Low Vocal

hi.

wondering if low pitch vocal will affect the song.
or as long as the person sings well, low vocal dosent matter?

can anyone name any low pitch vocalist?
example Elvis p.
he is one right?

Thanks

I find that higher pitches sound more exciting and interesting. If you sing a whole song low, it's difficult to add any excitement to it. Some people get away with it though, like Elvis and Johnny Cash. Leonard Cohen is someone who DOESN'T get away with it :) I find him so boring to listen to.

Put another way, you need a lot of skill and something special in your voice to get away with singing low. But if you sing higher, you can get away with more.

I like low voices. More depth and character, imo. =)

The song must be suitable for the voice though.

Personally whether it's high or low pitch, it doesn't matter or give judgement on any good or versatile effect unless it's sung in your default general key of range. Example I can sing and express on a high pitch, but singing high all the way makes the song stale. Alternatively I can sing expressively low, but I think that kinda singing suited more on trance or Mandalay stuff, because of my tone at that range.

I remember an old american idol audition where the girl sang high all the way and although she hit each note and expressed it out, the judges weren't too impressed. Simon said it was "dull".

thanks guys.

1)
wat about charlie simpson from Busted?
sing with others with high pitch. (James Bourne and Matt Willis)
does that make the whole song and band interesting and nice?

2)
and wat if the low is like really low.
taking Alvin from channel 8 for example. he's act in weekdays channel 8, 7pm chinese show.
wat do u guys think if he sing? i mean he sing in correct tone and melody. jus that is it his pitch.

look forward to the comments. thanks. :D

Low tone vocalists can sound great too.

Just think about the amount of passion you can put into your lyrics....

Check out vocalists like Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam), Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour), Scott Stapp (Creed) etc
