So i just got a used eternity clone which came with an extra chip. The chip inside is a JRC2043DD (was told this is more creamy), and the extra one is a JRC4560D (was told this is more crunchy).
I'm really interested in getting a few more and swapping them out to try out their sounds, but i've never handled chips before, so i need some help as to what to get.
I haven't swapped out the chip yet cuz i've been unable to remove the original one due to something beside it blocking the way and i'm afraid i might damage something if i try too hard.
But here's what i think of the pedal so far.
Likes:
- pretty transparent with a slight mid hump (sounds killer as a low gain boost before my other drives)
- nice and smooth with lead playing
- a lot of presence
dislikes:
- not enough bass
- kinda thin sounding
- maybe too much presence, a little too bright for my liking
When i think eternity, i think of either of the following
1. fat, thick, kinda like the bassier burst version
2. warm, smooth and mid-y, perhaps like the fuse version
3. exactly what i have, but not as bright.
I'm of course not asking to get all 3 sounds in one, just hoping you guys might know what chips would sound more like that, so i might be able to experiment. Or just any other chips that you think sound good, i could go try them out too.
I read that the original eternity came with LF353, and for a while, it was shipped with an extra TL072ACN.
It would be great if you guys can also tell me where and how much i can get it for.
thanks a lot
