Looking for a tube amp...

Hi everyone, I am looking for a tube amp, that can play at bedroom levels, and get nice amp drive, without having to turn up the volume too loud. (Yeah, maybe I'm a little petty.) I play Classic Rock like The Eagles, Blues stuff like Jimi Hendrix, SRV, John Mayer and Hard Rock stuff like AC/DC, Rainbow and Guns N' Roses. My budget is at about $1000-1200 I'm currently looking at a Vox AC30... Any other reccomendations? Thanks! I have a MI Audio Crunchbox and an Ibanez TS-808, if that helps...

Cheers,
WWH

For bedroom tube with nice overdrive, I think you're better off with a 5W model.

They are quite loud and I've not turned up the volume of mine pass 2. Using an 18W tube.

consider a separate head and cab setup

then for cabs, you can
run thru 2 x 12s sealed back for huge chunky sound
or
run thru 1 x 6 or 8 open back for nice classic mild o/drive sound at low volume

hi there 8-)

if you aren't too amp drive dependent, the Epiphone Valve Jr is a great buy.

there's also the Biyang 2203 to consider

I just tried something that's totally blown me away. I COULD NOT GET A BAD TONE FROM THIS AMP!!!! It was in a studio. Belonged to a friend who agreed nicely to let me try it for my jam session:

Damn... I wish I could carry it home... It was TOTALLY awesome! I suddenly realised I didn't need a reverb. This amp had so much soul, and tone flow, I had to try to figure out how to get a dryer tone..

This thing mind f**ked me...

in all due fairness- maybe the MESA's tones appeal to you; some of us can't get along with the MESA after hearing it in person.

+1 for THD Uni Valve

Great volume control, takes pedals very well and does a classic rock from the amp distortion alone.
