Hi guys. I'm looking for around for a tube amp. Play mostly contemporary, hard rock and classic rock with the occasional heavier stuff like Metallica and A7X. I'm using a PRS at the moment and would really like an amp with nice thick tone to go with it ... the chugga2 kind .. you guys know what I mean. Any recommendations?

Well lemme see...

Mesa is so hard to come by....
VHT has no local dealer. I think Davis stopped bringing it in
Bogner Uberschall and Diezel Herbert are SWEET! but are way too expensive and of course, no local dealer...
Had a Marshall and not a big fan of it...
Had a Peavey and also not a big fan of it...
Soldano has no local dealer.... I went to check it out in Indonesia... sounds good but not exactly what i'm looking for...

Vox? Thick? really?....

Sigh. Thanks guys...

You like Brian May? If so, get an AC30. Can boost it with an overdrive to get more gain if you can't crank the amp too much or still not enough gain when it's fully cranked up. For classic rock, I think you'll do very fine with the AC30. For hard rock, yes.

For metal... get one of those hi-gain amps. Mesa?

Btw, what's wrong with the marshalls and the peaveys?

davis still brings in VHT...but u need to order with them and wait for the next shippment...

Yeah! Just went to Davis just now and yes the next shipment is in a months time. They told me that they may have some extras.. ie not reserved yet for me to try... might as well check it out first ..... If not then would probably settle for the Vox. Anyone have any opinion about AC15 compared to the bigger brudder AC30?
