There's a feature in Logic Pro 8 called the Binaural panner. What's this?
The Binaural Panner is a psychoacoustic processor that is able to simulate arbitrary sound source positions (including up and down information) by means of a standard stereo signal. This emulates human hearing, which is capable of interpreting positional information (where a sound is coming from), despite the fact that only two “receivers”
(your ears) are used to capture the sound.
You can place a STEREO file in your STEREO mix as if you were mixing in 5.1. L,R,RL,RR and even front to top to back, not to mention Front side to Rear side! Gr8 for sound designers! Using the binaural panner, you can simulate an aeroplane flying pass you in any direction in stereo!
Totally blew me away!
Does any other software provide this feature? Please share.
