This Friday, 5 Dec, mark it in your calendars as Ch 5's upcoming local music showcase program [Live 'n' Loaded] launches at http://5.mediacorptv.sg/livenloaded

We invite all local music talents to create your online profile with us, upload your data, pics, songs and even videos. You've got till 27 Jan 2009 to get this going so that the online community can check u guys out and decide on the weekly composite of band lineups for the live show!

Hopefully, we get the numbers and we can really shout about that THESE are the people who make up the local scene here.

It's already quite a pain in the arse to get people to understand and support a TV show that focuses on local bands & musicians WITHOUT having a panel of judges, a whole songbook of covers and you spending your hardearned coins SMSing for your favourites.

We've already opened doors, so now it's just waiting for you guys to come in and rock the studio down! Log on and support us!

It's great to see familiar bands like S.P.O.N.G.E. and Summer's Over who have already uploaded up their great stuff!

Come on, you've got a whole long weekend to tweak your audio files and upload to our site! We are expecting MORE!!!!

Btw, if you guys don't have a band yet, you can still sign up as a user, check out the stuff and rate the bands too!

If you have not created your profile with us online, do so now! We're on a roll to promote the local scene and there is no finer time to do so than to put your music right out there on TV, radio, gigs and print! Simple upload your music, details and pic, and let the online community decide!

Gibson has kindly sponsored a lovely bianca white Gibson Les Paul Studio to be given to the Best Guitarist of the series, and a fly Gibson Thunderbird to the Best Bassist of the series. And no worries if you ain't going on TV, because we're giving away a Gibson MelodyMaker to a homeviewer as well! Sweet.

Fashion guerillas Revoltage is collaborating with Live 'n' Loaded, and they will be coming up with limited edition band tshirts. Watch out for tshirts designed by Revoltage and Electrico, The Great Spy Experiment, Vertical Rush, A Vacant Affair, etc. You can grab these tees on the day of our live studio shows, or pop by the Revoltage outlets thereafter.

Official radio station 987 will be playing more local songs, and exclusive recordings from the outtakes of the studio show. So listen and you can also stand to walk away with premiums!

Thanks for your feedback. And yes, we have limited each IP address to only rate the talents a maximum of 10 times. Meaning, you can rate Talent A 5 times, and Talent B 3 times, and Talent C 2 times OR you can rate Talent A 10 times all in all. The IP address capturing prevents spam-voting.

We're checking on the lagging issues, apparently, that has caused many of the talents to submit twice.

We'll love to see more bands from Soft submit their stuff online. Come on folks, we are doing our part creating a programme to support the indie local music, so do yours by showing the ignorant out there how big this local music scene really is.

hola to the guys at Live N Loaded, just wanted to say that the 2mb cap on audio files is a bit restrictive for bands, cuz it forces them to either lower the quality of their mp3 or cut off sections. Fans don't really get a complete idea of the music that the band is playing that way...but just my 2 cents, I bet the server space has to massive to accommodate everyone. Awesome job on the site and mad props to y'all for organizing this!

Just looks like an English version of Superband, which i'll probably be more interested than the chinese one.
However, i ca't imagine an R&B, Rap band... Are they gonna just do beatboxing while others uses intruments?
 
I saw a programme on TV the other day about Singaporeans venturing overseas. There was this guy who is based in Taiwan making music. One of his forte is beatboxing. Very cool stuff.
 
My 2 cents worth of opinion:

I think if they (mediacorp) are really putting out a platform to showcase local talents, then what is there to lament/wonder/doubt about? What is there to lose for you or your band?

If you don't do this, you'll still be stuck behind your computer managing your band's MySpace and FaceBook. If you don't do this, you'll still be playing small gigs thinking it's big. If you don't do this, you'll still have to pay for your own album production and do your own legwork.

Local music is not just restricted to the indie band scene. Skratch DJs, beatboxers, acapella groups, solo singers, etc are all LOCAL talents. They make up the music community. There is a huge R&B community here, and also homebased music composers and electronic musicians.

It is strange how majority of local musicians behave. When there is a platform for musicians, the musicians will diss and doubt, and maybe think it's such a "sellout" (but in the first place, what's there to sell out anyway?). And when there is no support, the musicians will complain too.

Perhaps people, we all should be open and thankful that the media has opened up and is being supportive. At least it is not another season of singapore idol or live the dream right?

James mentioned about that ChannelNewsAsia feature on local promoters like Kitty Wu, WMUM, etc etc. I think that is a great sign on how the music community here is being recognised for their efforts in different areas.

btw, i checked out the live and loaded website, some of the talents in there are really good. I wish them all the best.

Don't lament folks, instead.... JUST SUPPORT!!!!
 
Ah man, I missed the first episode, any idea where I can watch it? I was searching for a video link on the web, but couldn't find any. Would be great if we can recap the episodes! :)
 
Eh how come Live And Loaded got various threads? Cannot compile into one? Haha cause I just posted at the Gigs and Concert section.
