Hi, recently i bought a new boss ds-1, and when i change my settings to hard rock , when i pick the G,B and higher E string using a pick, i tend to hear a "kek kek" sound. Can anybody tell me why this happens and how to prevent this ?

"Kek kek" sound is not really a good explanation man haha.

Im assume its a very sharp, piercing metallic sound? IF its what I think it is, you can try turning your treble on the amp down a little. You can also turn down the tone knob on the DS1.

This is caused by the picking technique. When the pick touches the string while its vibrating, I think it's what causes that sound. Either that or when your pick strikes the string, the side of the pick scratches against the string, which causes that sound.

Try strumming with your finger or thumb. See if the sound is still there or not. If its not there anymore then it's probably your picking technique combined with the treble or tone knob turned too high.

kek-kek sounds like a buzz note when the nut or bridge is too low or neck bow. Do you hear similar sound with clean setting? Do you hear it only on open strings or across different frets? Try palm muting the string when you pick.
