lets say i get a line 6 uber metal distortion pedal its $150 right? yea...think i can still get the same kind of distortion as the boss DS1? or will it be totally isane distortion...

Line 6 uber metal gives you 3 different kind of models, namely metal, pulverize and insane. metal is sthning similar to your metal zone. pulverize gives you mid rangey distortion ( good for riffing). insane is based on their award winning line 6 insane model. it's total madness.

The main feature of uber metal, in my opinion, is the "scoop" knob. it's a fliter knob which adjusts the mid and low range frequencies. it really works. i like it when i turn it to full. really mind blowing.

it costs $160 after discount. trust me, it well worth every cent

bao- you read my review on the Uber Metal?

when you try the pedal out, lower the gain settings to see if it can mimic a mild drive like the DS-1...

tried it recently on friday. the pulverise setting is awesome for getting really thick chug for metal. the metal setting is similar to the pulverise but with the low end taken away. didnt really find the insane setting nice as it was too scooped. one thing which bothered me was the gain knob. at 1-2oclock there was barely any gain then suddenly the distortion would jump out at you real hard at 3oclock onwards. seems there isnt any gain taper on this and due to this i can only get really high gain or barely any gain. dialing anything in between is kinda impossible. but im pretty impressed with the built in noise gate function. but beware u have to get an adapter for tt monster. it consumes batteries really fast. i barely got down to trying it with a new battery when de light started blinking signalling low battery. also its heavy as hell.

to me its a very noisy pedal..i wldnt suggest you using that if your not into metal kinnda music..too much for norm rock..

oic then wad about the mega distortion....any tips cos i think that The DS1 has not enough gain. any other recommendations besides the MT-2

As usual I will recommend Tech 21 Sansamp GT2! LoL~!

heard my friend play thru an MD2 once...way too much bottom end, it sounds like mud..no clarity or definition whatsoever..it was meant to be marketed as a numetal pedal anyway, so wasn't really interested...i think the line6 uber metal is really worth a shot..

same here, but only if it were cheaper...dat damn pedal costs a bomb next to a DS1

I'm a BOSS fan, and I try alot of them out.

Here's my opinion on the DS-1, MT-2 and MD-2

The DS-1 is a classic distortion sound that u'll get. Akin to the old days Led Zep, Pink Floyd, UFO, Queen type of sounds... It's a little on the high side, with slight crunch. When set at mid-levels, sometimes sound like an OD. If u are thinking of this, you might wanna try the DS-2...upgraded. The DS-1 is really really old.

The MT-2 on the other hand is more modern. Nice sound with 4 adjustable eq levels and a overall distortion control knob. The controls mean you can get alot of contemporary sounds from this beast. Pump up the bass, lower the mids, you can pull off a linkin park. Moderate the highs and lows, and push the mids, you can get the 70s brit rock sound. So, over all, very versatile piece of metal.

The MD-2 is on another spectrum. It's no versatile. It's a very specific piece of machinery. It's ONLY for nu-metal or punk metal..or those linking park stuff. Very heavy low end, super chunk sounds. Some people say it sounds like MUD, but u need a good amp to pull this off...and a good guitar. If the DS-1 is a hot rod cadillac, the MT-2 is a modern Ferrari...this on is a 18-wheeler freight truck. All brute power and nothing else.
