Limping cat

Funny place to post this but desperate time calls for desperate measures!

There's a really adorable stray cat around my area (yishun) and the cat is limping on his rear left foot. He refuse to put weight on it though he attempts to use it to scratch himself. There's no visible wound on it hence I dont think it got into a fight with other cats.

Any experienced cat owners here care to shed some light on if its a sprain or fracture? I intend to bring it to the vet but short on cash.

By no visible wound, do you mean on the leg itself? Check the paw pads. There might be a cut somewhere. Even a tiny one causes a major irritation.
If it is a sprain or a fracture and the cat doesn't get sent to the vet asap, it might set wrongly. But if it's walking fine and all I doubt it's a fracture. A sprain at most. But still, better to be safe than sorry.
Try to pool some money with friends or family members for a visit to the vet.

Good on ya to care.

Can't really tell despite being a cat-owner for many years, but it is probably a sprain (ligament), because the leg still has some use. It might even be a strain (muscle). If it is fractured I think the cat won't even be able to use it at all until it heals.

I really hope it heals, man. For a cat, its legs mean everything. But some cats can live with just three legs. One of mine has a deformity in the rear left leg (it grew into a useless stump rather than a complete leg) but she's survived 2-storey falls unscathed and her single rear leg is really powerful.

So don't worry too much. But all the same I hope for the best. And perhaps a visit to the vet would help loads for the poor thing.

Hey thanks for the replies. It refuses to let me touch the leg so i cant examine. Though despite the limp it managed to hop onto the bench and crawl onto my lap.

That cat is overweight i think. maybe that's why it hurts more. I hope it's a sprain too. Any idea how much a visit might set me back? I've seen this cat around for ages and it's so unbelievably cute. Too bad I can't bring it home. ):

wow. that's really steep. Hmm. I'll play cheat. go in and state the condition and ask for price of consulation and treatment. Anyway thanks for all the help. Tiger and I appreciates it. (:

You're welcome. Glad to see people like you around. Consultation is fixed, it's only the treatment that differs according to the problem.

Ok thanks. will take note. Ya sometimes i think i have too much compassion for my own good. So tempted to give this ah peh $5 for lunch cause i saw him eating left overs at mac but i was left with only $10 for the week so i couldnt.

I'll go ask the vet tmr how much is the consultation. Fingers crossed that its just a bad sprain.

Thanks again for the replies!

ya i see so many 'ugly' ones everyday. they would pretend to sleep on the train so as to not give up their seats to the elderly or pregnant ladies.

i would adopt the cat if i had my own place and were living in yishun. because i am a good man.

just like how i would marry a single mum or divorcee who is 10 years older than me if she was a good person.

there are not enough people like me.

Adopting a pet is one thing, 'adopting' a wife is another.

Anyway, my gf checked with the shop (turns out that the 'clinic' is actually a pet shop) , its most likely a sprain. Will call up the vet just to be sure.
