g'day to all LP players. Anyone successfully installed a piezo pickup system on the les paul. Mind posting some photos so that i can get a rought idea on where to alocate the quick switch

haha, I am just afraid of drilling a hole for the switch between magnetic and piezo. scared the lacquer shatters when i drill or what.

Any ideas you guys have on where else/ i should install the switch, the most non damaging way to the guitar :)

Thanks

if your worried abt stuff like that just bring it to a tech. The switch shold be where your comfortable with it. Im not using it anyway, my opinion doesn't matter.

Not only do you need a switch, don't you need a volume control for the piezo?

Most unintrusive method? Simple. You got 4 knobs. If you want to, you can get 2 x concentric pots to handle the same vol/tone vol/tone config (or vol/vol tone/tone) and there you have it! 2 free holes to put in a 3 way switch and a volume control.

finally an interesting topic.. but how much do piezo bridges cost?? they're supposed to give a more acoustic sound to ur electric right, when they're activated...

I dunno,..maybe I didn't use it with the right amp or settings, etc.....but I find piezos on electric guitars a waste of time. Tried Ibanez RG-something and a Petrucci

They never sound as good as a real acoustic and unless you're on stage and cannot have a 2nd guitar for the acoustic stuff then.....I see no use for it. Turn down the gain, stomp on the chorus and roll down the volume and it's 95% as good.

Save the money and buy a real acoustic or electric acoustic....Tom Anderson Crowdster maybe? yum! or Taylor T5? yum yum!

I'm sure there's a way to wire up the mini switch as a push-pull to replace one of your tone knobs, given that 1 vol = master, 2 vol = piezo, 1 tone = master. No surface damage to the guitar.

If you're still worried, get a synth or an acoustic simulator ;)

Hmm piezo's, i wouldn't say that if you want acoustic sounds, get an acoustic. After all, a piezo does offer different tones. To me, it's something like the inbetween tone between an electric an acoustic. It's cool, and can be used for different purposes. But well, personal preference :D
