Lemon oil on a maple neck/Rosewood fretboard..

Hey guys, recently got this bottle of Dunlop 65 Lemon oil, it says that do not apply on Maple fretboards.

The fretboard of my guitar is rosewood, but its neck is maple.
is it safe to apply lemon oil on it?

If you keep it to just te fretboard, then yes it's safe

You only are not recommend to use it on maple fretboards not maple necks

I think most people gotta understand on why Lemon oil can't be used on Maple Fretboards. Or rather, it isn't a can't in this case but a rather, should not.

Understand that Maple Fretboards are usually lacquered and sealed. Meaning, no maintenance is required from our part. Note that you can apply Lemon oil on your maple fretboard but it will only be a waste of your oil since the wood is already sealed.

The reason you oil your fretboard is to keep the fretboard from drying out and crack. So to answer your worry (Which shouldn't be one in the first place), Yes you can apply oil on your fretboard but it will not slip into the maple. And even if it does, it will not kill your guitar.

what about the frequency? i am planning to apply it every string change, but i've read about people to apply lemon oil once every half a year.

Well you should observe whether your fretboard is getting dry or not. Some signs are pores than are more visible than normal and for some guitars, a bit whitish colour on the fretboard.
