The success of 2014/2015 has been the result of the stunning support from the music community. More than a year later, the project has grown and we’ve just launched a full-fledged guitar building workshop in the North-West region. At 1700 sq ft, the Mandai facility offers new and improved equipment in an optimised setting.
Our pilot program offered last year has now developed into streamlined and tested course. From timber selection to the fret job, every step of the process will be taught and supervised so you will have an amazing hand-built instrument of your own at the end.
Guangjun is the man behind Tombalek Guitars, the luthiery project he started in 2006. After years of experimentation, he will share with you all his skills and knowledge accumulated, guiding you through each step to achieve his signature fine woodwork.
The standard program offered is a 10-day program beginning on 12th December, the course will be conducted every Saturday over 10 weekends. The course material will cover:
1. Introduction to wood species and selection.
2. Introduction to the design of a bolt-on neck electric guitar.
3. Woodworking Foundation Skills
4. Neck Construction
5. Body Construction
6. Electronics Installation
7. Fret Job
8. Assembly and Troubleshooting
9. Fit and Finish, wood oils and waxes.
Course Length: 4-6 hours/day (9:30am - 1:30am)
Course Size: 3-4 Students/Course
Register by: 5th December
Starts on: 12th December
The standard program is available at 2580SGD inclusive of all materials and equipment provided. You will have a hand-crafted an instrument at the end of the program to bring home.
