Ok guys...sorry again :D
pickups!

Neck: PAF Pro
Singlecoil: HS-2
Bridge: ToneZone..

Planning to use TZ for lead, Hs-2 for clean and PAF Pro for heavy chords..thoughs? On an Ibanez s470...

the output diff of the 2 humbuckers and ur single coil will be noticeable, imho. the hs-2 after all was made in the 80s, (so they say) and is more vintage sounding.

Here is the output of the pickups ::
hs-2 --> 90
ToneZone --> 375
Paf Pro --> 300

so when u swap to the mid pu, u will notice a pretty drastic vol. drop i think. unless, of course, u plan to install a nifty piece of equipment to rectify the problem?

The output isn't much of a difference IMO... the PAF Pro isn't super low output so it should be fine with the TZ.

However, why will you, warlord, be using the PAF Pro for heavy chords?!?!!?!? Its in the neck and you will never never get the tight crunch of a bridge pup.

So what do i do? I want a tonezone....in bridge really..is that good for crunch shit right? And then what goes in neck ? and singlecoil?

maybe get a single coil sized humbucker or something, maybe something with less vol gap.

shredcow, i meant the diff b/w the hs2 and the humbuckers. there *is* a vol gap right?

Warlord, its fine ... the PAF Pro is fine! But if you intend to use the neck pup (or ANY neck pup for that matter) for heavy chords, you'll never ever get the crunch and clarity that a bridge pup will give you.

Do not stereotype pup in that, the neck pup is for this ,the bridge is only for this and so on, so forth.

The bridge pup can be used for rhythm or lead. The neck pup can be used for rhythm or lead. The middle pup can be used for rhythm or lead. Its in your hands, its up to you and the music.

Stick to your idea of TZ, HS2 and PAF Pro first... that sounds fine so far since you are going to be using a high gain amp already.

Fruitwine, there will be a volume different between the HS2 and the humbuckers, and that adds to the versatility of a guitar. If your guitar's HSH pups are all hi output, you will get a nice even volume thru out, but try doing some bright spanky cleans. Or try to get that abt-to-break-up tone. Its just harder.
Moreover, if ppl want hi gain, they only use the neck or bright most of the time...
IMO, in that case, the middle single coil should be something different, to add to a guitar's versatility.

Pair with Dimarzio Breed. You won't regret.

warlord, dun think there's any right or wrong in pu config... prob u shd start by naming out the purpose of your middle pickup, wat u hope to achieve wif ur neck pu etc... imo, PP-hs2-tz u mentioned serves as a well balanced n fairly versatile config.

Warlord - stick with what you think of for your pickups first. you can always trade and swap the pickups for other stuff as your influences and tastes changes.

and if you're getting completely new pickups, maybe you'd like to be a bit more experimental.. hehe. i've tried PAF Pro twice in neck and bridge and yeah, it's a good pickup but has never wowed me much.

maybe u'd like to try a FRED or a Breed neck in that case, since I think you have leanings towards a heavier sound.

Dude. If i were u, i'd stick to bridge pup for rhythm. Especially if ur playing metal. For all those punchy licks, arpeggios, & sweeps, i use my neck & sometimes switch to and fro. Bt variations sometimes can give you the kind of sound ur looking for, so try out whatevr ur comfortable with.
