Labels Want Even More Cut

there are different levels of diys. some bands still consider themselves diy if there are labels helping them distribute their music. but if bands sign contracts that stat that label companies get whatever percentage of what they earn, they cant really complain much.

Awww, there goes all of Aging Youth Records' efforts down the drain. Not to mention Kitty Wu Records, WakeMeUp Music, Pulverised Records, Straits Records, Ignite Production, 29 Cornflakes and all that have come and gone over the past decade.

Labels are indeed useless. Wonder why people bother setting them up

I didn't say labels are useless. I said screw that path, DIY is the way to go :P

and yeah, to go into detail, I don't think any of the local labels even remotely compare with the corporate bigwig labels out there. None of our local labels are seriously profit-oriented (if you're starting a local label with the intention of making profits, good luck to you!)

as such, I would define local labels as collaborative DIY. I scratch your back you scratch mine.

So let me add to my initial point, "screw major labels, DIY is the way to go!"

tcollaborative DIY, yep thats the word. we all chip in together so we bleed less individually in pursuit of doin wat we love hahaha......
