Kicking in EP Booster for lead parts?

Hey guys i've bought an ep booster a few days with the intention of using it as some what as a volume boost but man the volume boost i get from it is crazy man(though im not sure if it would be just nice when im jamming in a studio with a band.
I definitely won't see myself using it at home, i've tried placing the ep boost at the start of all my drive channels it does add more beef and gain to my tone but volume wise it was as good as none.
You must be asking whats the purpose of making a thread like this now? Mainly the reason why is to get some inputs as to how you guys actually place and use your clean boost?
My set up for the drive channel usually goes like this amp/ep/seventheaven/ocd/guitar
Or me using 3 drive is plain ridiculous?(this is my first boost pedal)
And for ep usings what settings do you set it as if used as a boost?
Your inputs would be greatly appreciated :)

Your setup should actually work and boost your overall level. I have a Visual Sound True Tone Clean Boost and I just simply put it AFTER all my effects for me to stand out with all my lead work without any dirt added, just extra volume. The extra tone knob this pedal has can only be very good if I want a bassier or treblier lead sound.

Putting a booster BEFORE any drive effect will just add more saturation but may not really cut in a band mix. Though, in my case I have an OD before my main drive so I can kick it ON during chorus.
:)

If placing after my drive pedals, I have it on unity gain (even with that on, 9 o'clock still gives me a decent amount of volume boost) and run it at 18V for maximum headroom. I also use post-drive it if I need more dynamic sensitivity out of my drive pedals, e.g. Rolling the guitar volume down and picking lighter for a cleaner tone.

Haha it's not ridiculous to have 3 drive pedals. Having variety in your overdriven tone is important.

Oh okay thanks for the inputs, for a moment i thought that i'm doing it wrong.
I really love the tone i get when i stack my seventh with my ocd but when i kick in the ep boost the volume i get is really a wow... i'm actually afraid it may kill the band's overall sound

That is the whole point of a clean boost. I barely use my booster at home but in jams/gigs it is used for each of my solos. Booster is meant to let you be heard. The EP, however, is slightly more interesting. It can be used as a tone sweetener as opposed to a straight-up clean boost. Set it at unity level to add a little presence and slightly fattened mids. It is after all based on the preamp in an echoplex.
So at home you can leave it always on at unity to beef up your tone and set it as a proper booster at jams.

Oh alright thanks for clearing my doubts, but man when i first clicked on the ep i was shock as to the amount of volume and treble boost i got, I guess i'll leave it as a boost it's gonna be a hassle moving back and forth considering my patches and chains are tied up

Not sure if you're already aware of this, but anyway...

There are 2 versions of the black EP Booster. If yours is V1, there's no way to set it to unity gain when it's switched on. So even if you have the knob turned full down (i.e. all the way counter-clockwise), there's still going to be some decibels added to your signal when it's switched on.

For V2, there's an internal dip switch that lets you set the external knob's min setting to be at unity gain. Meaning if you activate this internal dip switch, if you have the pedal switched on and the knob is turned full down, the volume is not going to be affected. So just turn the knob up accordingly to increase the volume to the level that you want the lead to be at.

EP Boosters with serial numbers 11012 and up will be V2. Hope this helps.

I use it in the end of my pedal line to get volume boost too for Solo. I get less volume boost but more gain when i placed it at the start of the line.

Yea i know bout the dip switches i set mine at vintage setings, i see everyone is recommending unity setting eh? Better for boosting lead?

How is unity better at boosting lead?

Unity = Tone Sweetener applications
Above unity = lead boost
Lead boost requires more volume (or if volume at constant, EQing to make your self heard above the rest via boosting/cutting selected frequencies).

K nvm i don't quite get myself, i guess i'll just stick to the suggestions above
Maybe im just being paranoid of the volume boost being an overkill in a band situation
