jumbofret's To-do list

After shedding new light of my identity and plans here, I feel that SOFTies should get a better picture of what I intend to do:

1. Enzer wireless mic system mod for guitar/bass
2. Get my PC and broadband Internet set-up (I relocated recently, now using dial-up. lol)
3. Learn more about the Jap guitar & bass market (shops, pricing, business etc) Useful info will be greatly appreciated
4. Educate my dad & his friend(s) about guitars/basses and the market.
5. Search for ideal click-&-mortar shops
6. Search for an ideal freight forwarder
7. Learn about shipping (the dimensions of a 20/40-footer, the practice etc)
8. Launching a MIJ/CIJ consolidation project right here at SOFT (Dec-Jan).

I am not a dealer, that means I am doing this purely out of goodwill for musicians and Japan. Feel free to inquire about anything. Save $, be patient, rope in interested friends/bandmates etc and tell them to join SOFT. Stay tuned for more details...

PS the success of this project depends on your support! I will persuade my dad to work with me on this one, it's just a little work, but it's all good in the long-run. I cannot guarantee future projects, this might be a one-time event.

tany: davis sells tokai.

Jumbofret.
i've always wanted to buy guitars from japan.
would you give me some tips too?
i'll order with you.

i mean i'm saving money already. gotta buy my dream guitar.

wad guitar do you suggest?

1)lightweight.
2)not a strat copy.
3)two thumbs up for the sound.

ya getting a tokai cheaper from japan is better than buying in davis for more expensive. even if i can save $1 i will still get it man

tany - u do lose out on the after service and warranty, as well as testing of the guitar you know. and the condition of the guitar when it reaches from Japan is limited to/by shipping.

If the guitar is damaged during shipping at the very best you can claim from the shipping company, which will be subject to insurance (which then again may be limited - damages can be relative).

i do agree davis sells for about 100-200 higher (i think) but that's not to say it's not worth buying from Davis.

unless, of course, they don't have the model you want.

dude, perhaps you can bring your enquiries to another thread? leave this one for jumbofret and his plans.

Les Pauls aren't light, don't really have great tone (subjective) nor are versatile, at least IMO. As vaiyen said, carry it back to your thread.

after that consolidation in dec-jan, will ya be carrying out another one. cause i aint sure if i can gather enough cash by then.

whats the best guitar in japan?

i would have to say caparison guitars. but be REALLY prepared to pay.
my friend did a conversion from the YEN. it'll be about 2K odd

Khai: A tele would be a gd suggestion, like what Thor666 has mentioned. Remember that for Teles and Strats, 2 woods are used: Alder and Ash. The weight will vary. Your statement regarding LPs is a contradiction in itself.

wangdexian: Agreed, there is NO best guitar. Khai, we cannot compare a LP with a Strat/Tele/Super-strat...

Vaiyen: Agree with you on that. I will start new threads when things are finalized.

Mr_X: It depends on the result of the consolidation project, and the interest for a next one. And also, this project will annoy the big boys, hopefully they will issue me a warning.

nak: Caparison guitars appeal to the modern metal (Dellinger) and rock fans (Angelus).

After work, I am gonna head down to Challenger at Funan to search for an Enzer. and Sim Lim Tower for a output jack. I went to the one at Tampines, and couldn't find the Enzer! There are cheapo Made in China wireless mics, but I wasn't interested cos they had no specs, warrranty etc

edit:Christopher Ammot of arch enemy uses it too!

so does michael romeo. haha

definitely very apealling to a metal guitarist. made for low tuning man!

It's Christopher, not Nicholas... hehe

To Caparison, Mattias IA Eklundh is like what Vai was to Ibanez in those days... haha

I have loads of work to complete... Hopefully my dad and his friend(s) agree to help me out on this one. It will go down the list and I will post a new thread regarding this project in November (at Beta stage). If there's a 2nd one, it will be more smoother than the 1st, definitely.

As for future projects, I think I will definitely stop at 4 or less, regardless of demand.
