My friend say one night 4-5 hours can earn about 50 bucks but you start work when the entire MRT system closes for the day. So I guess you'll be working in the wee hours of the morning....

The thing is , if you can tehan the emotional abuse there , then by all means , go for the $9 per hour....
Usually all these hotels that have to project a good impression to the guest blar blar blar and when one minor thing cock up , the banquet manager gets it and that's why usually the banquet manager has got some attitude problem because everything is thrown directly at him....

Seriously man , let's say you screw up in the midst of a wedding function , the manager comes to know about it , drags you to a secluded area in the kitchen and scolds and screams the living shit outta you until you feel like whacking his bloody tu lan face....

I think you all should look for admin work as an office boy/girl if you ever have the opportunity. You get paid around the same rate as those hotels out there if not slightly lower and you get better treatment...

Best thing is go to a job agency and specifically state you want an office job. The agent will take about 2-3 dollars out of your hourly pay but still the pay is quite decent.
My sec school fren applied for an office job through a job agency. Actually he's salary was 10 bucks an hour but agency take 3 bucks off as commission so he's left with 7 bucks an hour. Usually MNCs (Multi National Companies) will seek the aid of a job agency in finding temperory staff because these are the companies that have loads of cash in their reserves.
I just stopped working in a German MNC and life's there been great there!!!! They even told me that if by my next school vacation if there's no temp staff , they will accept me because it saves the hassle of constantly training of new temp staff over and over again as they come and go.....
Actually my mom's fren is working there so I got lobang but since it was the company's policy to find temp staff through a job agency , they just gave my name and particulars to the agency and let them handle everything....

i just left an office job at my parents' company last week.
basically do loads of photocopying, and i also took an entire week to arrange a damn messy/cluttered file storeroom into alphabetical order. Also call up clients who failed to make payment on time to ask them to pay.

Filing , faxing payment to companies , matching out invoices with delivery notes , tabulating data on the computer using softwares and microsoft office.
Better still if manager not around , can surf internet cause every desk has a computer with internet access. My mom's friend told me it's perfectly alright to surf the net only when the managers are not around. There was 2 days when all the managers in my company went for some training and wooohooo everyone in the office was slacking big time. Employee's productivity dropped during those 2 days
It's kinda easy to pick up lah....
