Jet City Amps Appreciation Thread!

Hey guys, since Davis started bringing Jet City in, I have been wondering which models did you guys buy and what effects/guitars you're running through it!

Lemme start off by posting a picture of mine first:

It was just my luck that there was a sale on that day, so managed to get some discount off this baby

All you JCA users out there, post some pics of what you have!

Wonder if they'll bring in the pedal range or not..

Would post a pic, but my gear is spaced to far apart in my room to get into one shot lol!

Got the JCA2112RC here, retubed it and now sounds more like a hot-rodded Marshall 1974x. Running a '51 Nocaster into it, with an Xotic AC-Booster set to goose for a rhythm tone, and my ESP Andora's Box providing another boost for lead playing. Also have an EHX Memory Toy in the chain for delay/chorus.

Nice! haha I had the JCA2112RC, then I sold it so I could get the other beast, the JCA50H hehe, and also because it was more practical for me la. You're running the memory toy up front?

Yup! Last one in my chain as a matter of fact. Haha I remember you GASsing for it in one of the earlier threads where you recommended the the JCA50H, great to see that you managed to get it in the end! How does the 4x12 sound?

The 4x12 sounds very big! Love it. Are you setting the amp clean or dirty?

Mostly dirty. I got my VOX AC4 for the clean tones, although the Jet City's cleans are pretty good too! A Sansamp GT2 comes into play if I set it clean though.

Hmm the how does the delay react? Wouldn't it be very 'in your face'?

It's an analog delay, so it's a lot warmer than let's say, a DD-3. More natural if you will. I set it to deliver a medium-rate delay; no slapback for me!

I see. But I thought that delays would clip if you put it in front of an already overdriven amp?

Where are all the other users! Can't be just the two of us:/ I know sub has a picovalve I wanted to get one

Nope, no clipping on my end. Smooth, chorusey delay all the way.

I see, must sound great! I guess we are the only two for now... Have you swapped out the stock tubes?

Yup. The stock Shuguang 12ax7-wb tubes were alright, very high-gain, but I decided to go with something different to experiment. Currently got a Tung-Sol 12ax7 in v1, a JJ ECC83s in v2, Mullard 12ax7 in v3 & v7, Sovtek 12ax7-lps in v4, and JJ EL84 in v5 & v6. Turned out pretty good actually!

Wow very interesting, haha. I remember changing all of the Preamp tubes to Tungsols, except for a EHX 12AY7 in V1 to get more clean headroom. it became a bit too bright for my liking. Going to go with JJs for the JCA50, according to the folks at harmony central, it's darker sounding and will tame the highs.

Haha I find that EH preamp tubes go better with VOX AC-style amps. JJs add a bit of natural compression too FYI. I noticed that immediately after swapping in mine. That's why I kept a Tung-Sol in v1 to preserve the clarity in the first gain stage.

Thinking of changing the power tube bias to cathode bias, as currently it's fixed, but it's a huge MAYBE only...

@cyanidejunkie: How diff will that sound? I think one of my tubes blew:/ I can turn my amp on, power tubes are still glowing, the three preamp tubes that I can see are still glowing, speaker cable connection's good. I'll try to use another power chord, I read somewhere that that could contribute to this problem, but not so sure yet:/

@zainprox: That model was released in the states not too long ago, so i think it'll only be available here end of this year or next. Thinking of picking one up too.

I see... Does Davis they have the 20 watt amp? Can you PM me the price of both the combo and the head and cab if you know it? Thanks so much man.

Yeah they do, but not sure whether it's still in stock or not. Best if you call them up for prices, may have changed since I last checked.
