Jem90HAM Restoration Complete!

It's been about 5 years since I last played this guitar. I sold off the stock evolutions, the tones just didn't go very well with my ears. The stock pickguard corroded due to some inferiorities in the finishing process. So anway national service soon came along after that, became a soldier for 2.5 years and never touched guitar at all. I finally got myself a part time job and rounded up enough funds to complete restoration on this guitar.

It took quite some time but I managed to find a party willing to do a chrome job for my pickguard and another laser cut stainless steel guard for my UV. Sure beats mirrored plastic.

Bought a set of Breeds off sweelee over the weekend, thanks Ms. Yeo and Adam! They sound awesome, all the nice vowel tones which I loved in my paf pros, with just a nice added spike. And also not as harsh as Evos.

And of course Mark Stevens, my usual tech is no longer in town for me to bug him for tech duties. I got several recommendations from close friends about KC at Guitar Connection at Peninsula. I was very hesistant and insecure about the whole job to begin with, I had nightmares about all the funny things sitting in a case for 5 years can do to a guitar, the pickguard not turning out right, grounding issues with regards to using a metal guard, the tech scratching and ruining the whole instrument.

KC is a real pro. He took great care of my baby! :)
He wired the pickups for me and did a setup to my specifications, I'm pretty damn anal to work with. He did all this within 2 hours. Yes within 2 hours! LOL. It's a damn good job, no noticable buzz or dead spots, very resonant, and sustain for days.

I highly recommend him.

Ok people here are the pictures.

Close up of action detail. It's not that low, not that high, just the way I like it.

Can you say Chrome!

Thanks KC!:)

I'm a happy boy now.

Hey guys thanks for the kind comments. :)

The wall was a tribute to my EVH pattern fetish. It took one day and a lot of turpentine handwashing, for my friend and I to complete. Painted it white first, applied the masking tape for the striped pattern, then painted it red, and removed the tape. Instand EVH! But it's missing the black stripes, I decided to leave it out due to the fact that I didn't want any of the red paint chipping off.

I'm really satisfied with the Chrome plating job.

Mine looked something like this before!

Apparently the guy told me that the first guard was done with nickel chrome hence causing it to discolour really easily. He then advised me on the various ways he could go about doing alternative electro-plating processes. I went with it, and the results are pretty damn good. :)

30 dollar niah!

Anyone want the contacts let me know.

very nice. was the pickguard cut/fabricated from scratch or is it just a replating of the original one? would love to have the contact..cheers.

Unsane the pickguard was not fabricated from scratch, but that can be done as well, through laser cutting on stainless steel. My pickguard was sent in for electro plating at Sam Kong Electro plating.

The shop is at Blk81 Geylang Bahru Road.

Number is 62921632 :)

Guys thanks for your kind comments.

Thanks for the comments Ben, can't wait to go over to your place and have my way with your amps! And oh yeah...you got some NICE guitars too!

I'm just waiting for you to join me in pedal hell ;)

Grain: Thanks for your comments, Dream guitars do come true but it was not easy getting these guitars. Took loads of saving up on my part and hardwork. The 90th is a present from my Japanese god-parents on doing well on a business deal.

The-Warlord: It's my sister's camera, a Nikon Coolpix 5.2 megapixel camera. I would really love to own a Canon Digital SLR...but gear comes first. :)

Siva why don't you check out with fellow Softie Gr3y, he does some pretty mean mirrored pickguards as well. ;)
