Jazz drumming

joh riley's book art of bop drumming its called io think is pretty damn good. the swing feel is hard to get, have to listen to it and play to cd's. the blues shuffle uses the same swing feel and it wld be helpful if u learnt the shuffle as well.

Hi MassageParlour,

Further to the recommended book that Blurred had mentioned, you might want to check out the following artistes/drummer:

1) Oscar Peterson Trio (any album)- drummer, ED THIGPEN
2) Miles Davis (in the 50s) - drummer, PHILLY JO JONES
3) Any album with ART BLAKEY
4) Any album with ELVIN JONES

Listen to them and try to play with the records. Don't worry if you can't do any comping with your left hand, coz it is more important to be able to swing with the ride cymbal then anything else.

Cheers....
