Hi.

I wanna understand more about Japan and USA Fender.

Anyone who know some facts, feel free to share.

I only know Japan Fender are cheaper than USA Fender.

its cos japan fenders arent really fenders.
in the same sense that orville by gibsons arent japanese gibsons.
its all just outsourced / licensed out.

Ic. thanks man.

So is it means that the japan fender are 'fake' or wat? but is it as good??

How much a japan fender cost and how much a usa fender cost??

not fake la.
just that fender outsources to japanese factories and licenses the fender name on guitars there.
factories like tokai, and of cos fujigen (who of cos also makes ibanez).
prices of jap strats can go from real cheap to expensive, depending on the body wood material, pickup options etc.

Construction is as good. Japanese push CNC machine button in Japan different from American push CNC machine button in USA meh? Especially for the Fender strat which when created its principle was of a guitar optimized for mass production and little labour.

What you're paying for a Fender USA is brand name and arguably the quality of raw materials used.

Fender Japan is actually greco in the past. What happen was that in the 80s, US fender was v poorly made due to mass production just to sell guitars. In the end they cut alot of corners n all. Then in Japan, they were making kickass copies at affordable prices, but the quality was so gd that even their went in to buy over greco...

I own 1 fender japan, but really the ones worth getting are the JV series from the 80s. Even the new ones r really gd for their price, n i find it better quality as compared to mexican strats.

BUT... Japan made fenders r basswood bodies, not ur typical alder wood strat. Go test n let ur ears decide

yup...only very few of the models are in basswood..MOSTLY alder and some ash..for teles at least dunno about much them strats..

in a vintage guitar point of view, the prices of USA Fender strats will rise faster than any MIJ strat out there.

a 1983 sunburst fullerton Fender stratocaster is around the price of $3k sgd ( lets give a rough estimate ). however, a custom colour olympic white 57 RI MIJ Stratocaster made in the same year is worth around $1000 sgd. imo if you want to collect vintage Fender guitars for investment, just get MIA, no doubt about it.

soundwise, just go for MIJ Fender Stratocasters. they use good wood thats for sure. heck, even their old squires are top notch.

quote Everdying: its cos japan fenders arent really fenders.

this is a rather reckless statement. the Jap Fender are indeed Fenders unlike other brand names which authorised copies under a comissioned brand name, as stated above.

there are reviews in the database to help you understand the performance of the Jap/ American guitars.

agree, used to have some early 80s to 2005 usa strats, can tell the differences, i have a squire bullet japan 1983 that beat the crap out of a usa 1990 strat,

japanese small hands mah better qc hehehe. The sound is not define by the country that make, a japanese making a fender is not a fender? only a american making it is a real fender?

anyone tried G&L, then a real fender quality should be the one made by leo fender isn't it.

made in USA doesnt mean its good and made in japan doesnt mean its bad,

The reason why they change to basswood is because of the rising cost of alder, not all are basswood

they had tried from book matching alder bodies for alternative but to cut cost in the end basswood is used not all bodies are bass wood even now some special models are still alder,

The 80s us fenders r not v sought after, whereas u see the japan squire n JV series having a cult following...

Yup not all japan fenders r basswood, but if im rite, most of the models r using basswood. The alder r the higher priced ones???

dunno about the strats, but at last count only 4 or 5 of the tele models are basswood..mostly ash then alder..and there's nothing wrong with basswood..it's not 'cheap' in anyway..it's a warmer sounding wood according to warmoth than say alder if that's what you're looking for..matter of preference..
