James,
why don't you start a forum tread sharing about when your passion for local music begin? I think it might be heartening for people to know more about u, the man behind soft.com.sg who is always at gigs and taking photos quietly but always the backbone for helping promote the local scene. I think a lot of local bands are very thankful to you for putting in so much of your own free time to do this. People like you are unsung heroes that are one of the true people who are promoting the scene. And I think it's time you should get the limelight a bit!

Yours,
Levan

Ya I second that!

James! No one really knows who you are... For a start, do you play any instrument? Are u in a band? And what kinda music you listen to?

btw, how do we go about putting banners on your site? What are your rates? Thanks!

thank you for all the kind words. luckily the Aging Youth paparazzi team are not around! or else they will ... hee..hee..

i love listening to good music. it could be anything.

i am very lucky to have travel a bit and whenever i come back to singapore, I keep thinking about the vibrant music scene in those countries.

just hope that one day, while walking down the streets, i can hear live music in the air and smell of flowers.

oh, when i am not on this keyboard, i do play on the 88-keys keyboard sometimes.

adooi, James...

Luckily, we read your forum regularily... Alamak, macham now you talk behind our backs like that...as if we are the New Paper like that...

We are more like the National Enquirer or some gossip tabloid publication lah... :D

It's good to meet up with you that day! :)

We've got a new project coming up. Hope you can support us on that!

Everyone, AgingYouth is the walking newspaper! Just over dinner and I found out more about Singapore Music Scene than in the last 1 year.

You know I will support anything music.

Ha..ha... you are everywhere! cannot talk 'behind' you one.

Read through your e-zine second time, must memorise them to pass "Music Industry 101".

Haha, James, you are too kind!

No lah, the record label article is somehting we feel that most serious musicians aimng for the big time or having at least a decent release should know about. Not those musicians who are only overtly obsessed with pigeonholing themselves with those kinda music genres with the suffix “core” at the back. We go lim kopi one of these days. I’ve a back catalog to bitch about this…

Actually, AYP feels that most of the articles are not comprehensive enough. It’s great to see what Ginette and Wallwork has done. She and Nick organized gigs and put out records. Kannan and Arul from Trishul Records are more killer… They’ve got their channels of distribution smack down. Of course, our biggest regret was that we couldn’t score an interview with Universal Records. With the insurgence of Singaporean bands lately and the limelight, wouldn’t most bands be interested to know how they can score a contract with Universal? Perhaps, in the future lah…

We must apologise for having such a short feature on the gig organizers. Actually, we believe that’s the thing that most bands are interested in. Playing gigs! After all, recording albums is just a way of leaving a legacy… If any gig organizers are reading this, please contact us, we’d definitely wanna compile a list of Singaporean gig/events organizers.

Hehehe, TNT Studios looks great after the refurnishing… We would be doing features on recording studios in the future, coupled with interviews with live performance sound engineers and producers. Hopefully, this is beneficial to most folks out there. And yes, you still can’t piss off the soundmen!

Sorry for ranting like a madman here…

Ok james,

Now for you to share more about yourself. You are quietly trying to slide back into the backstage scenes but we will pull you out again and demand a history of yourself and which band got u started to want to start soft.com.sg :D

yours,
levan
