Issues on Guitar Maintenance and Servicing

Hi there,

I have a guitar that is roughly 5 years old and for about 2 years just been sitting and collecting dust. Recently i kinda got itchy and wanted to play the guitar again. I bought some strings and restring it, plug it into the amp and seems to be in working and playing conditions. However i do realise that at certain frets the note starts buzzing abit. Apart from that the outlook of the guitar is really horrible.

Apart from the buzzing there does not seem to be any other issues. But being quite noob-ish and having poor eyesight and hearing skills, what can i do to check if my guitar have other issues? Finally can these issues be fixed by myself or its better to send to a shop and if so any recommendations.

honestly im those kinda who is kinda itchy to fix/mod things by myself but its my one and only guitar and i sure dont wanna do any more damage to it:confused:

sounds like a warped neck

Possibly and due to the humidity. Or even the string gauge not right or other things....new strings can buzz a bit while they settle. Tuning...is it even at concert pitch? etc.

If you want this fixed there are many tutorials on the web but you need to be sure what the cause is.
Really the idea of doing self-maintenance isn't an issue and while shops advise against it (it's a cash cow) i'd recommend it. Get the tools the info and away you go...with care. Best way to learn in my opinion.
