IS it neccessary to ground the selector?

Doing soldering as I type now, coz I see some diagrams do and some don't. Whats the purpose also?

Generally pickups in a guitar are grounded to the back of the vlume pot and the hot lead goes to the selector switch.

On the Cort G series I opened up, the entire 5 way switch is in itself grounded.

I think the question is, does the 5 way need to be grounded or not.

Thanks jony. I wasn't specific enough. Anyway fixed the pups already now 1 of the single coils not working, dunno if I did something to make it spoil or its already spoilt upon arrival. Any ways to get it fixed or something? Can send it back to seller for refund or exchange, but that takes time.

WOW. Just got a reply from the seller that he will ship a new one to me without even asking for the spoilt to be returned. Kinda too good to be true. Have to wait and see for another 3 weeks. In the meantime have to settle for a humbucker with 1 single coil neck
