Is it just me... or... (Tonebone effects)

tone is subjective, what is raving reviews might be a horrible pedal to some. What is horrible pedal might be a secret tone shaping device to another group

reviews are nothing as long as never tried the pedal through the guitar you are comfortable with and through the amp you know the characteristic.....

agreed. but therein lies the problem:

u can bring ur whole setup to a gig, only to find that the amp they provided is some brand u'd really really like to avoid. also, i think most people aren't rich enough to move their amps around places. (not yet at least.)

the rave reviews on the Tonebone hot british and Classic are similar - these pedals "color" ur tone like it would a marshall... so u don't exactly have ur tone from the amp or ur guitar, but a tone that u can reasonably "predict" for your gigs. and you don't need to necessarily compromise too much on ur actual tones like some digital effects which simply "replaces" the tone of your guitar/amp.

hehe, the tonebone colour tone yes, but knowing how to tweak the amp that you are familar with, it's really beyond possible to get a tone that might be to what you like. And yeah, different amp, different tone, with same pedal....

As for colouring of tone. What would that be. Any overdrive or distortion pedal used is already colouring the tone. As for transparent drive/distortion, forget it, that is another joke that internet forum gave us....

Point? Forget bout the all those review. The tonebone are available locally, go try it out...

well as u know, if u want to tweak amps u need time. which gigs don't really let u have time to work with.

i believe the coloring of tone they refer to is the "character" of ur guitar, not so much the signal, but rather the ideas of timbre etc. Some pedals just color too much of ur tone, ie u can plug anything from a keyboard to a guitar and they produce the same effect.

The reviews were mainly from the MrMisse forums... so heh. i just find it weird that the Hot British didn't sound as per what was being discussed in those forums.
