Is it better sounding if you sing with an english tone?

I think singing english songs with a bit of english slang is better sounding then if you sing it normaly .
Of course the voice plays a part too .
But do u guys think that wat i said is true ?

i believe english song sing english tone nicer, malay song sing malay tone nicer, chinese song sing cheena tone nicer, japanese song sing japanese tone nicer...

I kind of agree with you. It will sound funny singing an English song with a Malay slang or vice versa.

Voice definitely plays a part. A unique one will be even better!

Sergio Mendes' singers, Marc Anthony, Jose Feliciano, Julio Inglaises etc etc all sing English songs with a latin twang & sound good.

Lady Smith Black Mambazo and some other African singers sing in English with an African twang & sound good.

Abba had a very slight Swedish slang when singing in English & sounded good.

The world is ready for a Singaporean artist singing an English song with a Singapore accent ....

personally, i dont think singaporean slangs work well in songs (unless we're talking parodies)
ESPECIALLY when people are doing covers of american/english songs, please please please, try to work that accent out of the song.

I'd rather a natural singlish accent than a contrived and forced american accent. Fake accents always come of as ..well... fake.

slang is vocabulary...accent is pronunciation.

if you look at the singers from finland and sweeden they sing very differently from how the speak.

listen to how tarja from nightwish sings and how she speaks.
very different.
but one can say that opera has an effect on her singing lah.

I can think of some on both sides.. Thom Yorke's (Radiohead) singing voice is very similar to his speaking voice. So is Jeff Buckley's.

But Matt Bellamy (Muse) speaks very differently to how he sings. He talks like an english bloke, but sings with very precise pronunciation.

Hi everyone,

well, some poeple sing like they speak, and others, the complete opposite.
also I think If some people sing from the throat (not using diaphragm) of course they sound like their talking voices.

Haha, my speaking voice is very very low but i sing very high keys with not much problem, except sometime when the occasional sore throat hits.

I got another fren who is the complete opposite of me.,she talks cute-ish, a bit high tone but sing very low but strong vocals. haha, there.
and we are not forcing out the vocals, just sing lor.

not really, if u hear carefully... it seems that the accent was not faked, rather perhares influenced by music heard from other countries... so some singaporean bands sound like that...

Eg.... if u hear a punk song, and u need to sing that, of cos, you will try to emulate the punk feel... same thing as accent. It's more like what influences you have.

Tarja's kinda out of the picture cos she's trained in classical voice... which covers less of pronounciation or more of accentuating the technique lyrically... they learn to sing in latin, german, french, english and of course italian...

I haven't any comments on the "English" tone bit, I'd have to think about it... but for now I'm leaning into a "no".... cos I've heard really fantastic foreign vocalists...
