I'm 13..I was just wondering ...my cousin has bought his own Carlos drums around $800...and he,my brother and i don't know the brand is not that bad at all..

So people,any recommendations???

Carlos? Not recommended really, unless you want to waste your money.

If one is patient, you can get a 2nd-hand kit from an established brand between $500-$800, even lower if you're lucky.

Even if it's the lowest in that range, the fact that it's from an established brand means you can expect a certain level of quality, assuming the previous owner/s didn't trash his gear.

It will also be easier for you to sell, and without much loss, if down the road, you decide that 1) You have lost interest 2) You wanna upgrade.

Brands/names to lookout for - Peace, Pearl, Tama, Yamaha, Sonor, Ludwig.

Would you get a brand new Kelisa VS a 2-4 year old Honda Jazz?

damn.. carlos for 800?? thats a friggin rip off...

i bet it's the one from ranking with the covered finish... 250 more for a finish is simply a rip off... 8O

you guys really do give carlos a bad name.
Carlos isn't that bad...
their hardware is good. they've got a wide range of stuff you know.
everything from sticks to power toms.
carlos really isn't that bad.
under proper tuning and a change of skins, they do give their money's worth.

Well, the thread starter asked "Are Carlos drums Good?"
It would be a different story if he asked "Are Carlos drums not that bad?"

Haha...nope....Carlos GAVE themselves a bad name! Not bad hardware?? You kidding me? I've come across some seriously dumb flaws with their hardware....as in...not just bad....but bad in the stupidest ways! One such example is the plastic sleeve where the hi-hat sits is too thick....so some branded hi-hats fit and some doesn't!! And I'm not the only one that has seen this problem...also..I've heard so many people complaining abt their tom holders giving way...

but in actual fact, its IS worth the money of just $550
the $800 that you're friend paid was over the roof.
It would do you good for $500.

taaat... wroonng answer..

i wanna learn how he does his rembat kick which he kicks the ball with his right foot to the right direction, the ball goes to the left and than it curls right tricking the goalie and making a fantastic GOALLLL!!!

lol out of point. haha but all i have to say to that guy is. calos is not tt bad if its 500 but at that price not worth it. but lets say everyone has to start somewhere. and for you a bad start dun worry keep going. its drumming that is the important thing. not the drums. though i totally adore drums

here's the bottom line.
carlos drums can't be classified as good.
But it is worth your money as an entry level kit.

i bought a carlos double peda for christmas because it was cheaper than the rest and i just wanted a double pedall. i sincerely regret it. if only i had paid that little extra money for a yamaha or an iron cobra....
im not buying carlos ever again.

btw, i have a really crap kit, i get by pretty well with it. in fact, i love my kit despite how bad it sounds. :)

syamil ! power ah ur pedals
go n put a tutorial on how to make it become carlos snake ( instead of cobra )

LOL carlos snake.
Wooden python lah..
hahaha!
but seriously, carlos drums do give your money's worth for $500
as D_H said, with change of skins and proper tuning.
it does give you what you pay for.
and for the carlos double pedals.
I had the carlos double pedals before i got my DW7002s,
i have to agree that they're not really the "ideal" pedal (just my opinion).
BUT, i realised something...
if you practice on a pedal like carlos,
and you eventually play on a iron cobra or pearl elims. you'll be able to "progress" faster. as the carlos is less smooth etc.

finally, all i'm saying is... carlos isn't crap! Its how you use it, that determines how good it is.
