iPod Problem, lend a hand?

I plugged the ipod into the computer to transfer some songs in, and it automatically went into this 'updating mode'. I didn't click a single damn thing.
And so in a mere 20 seconds, all my existing tracks on the ipod was wiped out. Clean.

So are my 1600 songs still salvageable? Or are they gone for good?

I feel like throwing this piece of shit away. :roll:

If you still have copies of your songs stored elsewhere on the computer, then just reload everything into your iTunes library and plug in your iPod one more time.

that happened to me before. twice. once when i was uploading, managed to change it for a new one at the apple service centre. the other time was when i was listening to my ipod, it was good as gone. couldnt upload anything onto it and couldnt reset it.

u mean 2 say dat your songs r juz gone when u updated yr ipod using the same playlist? if im not wrong u probably plugged yr ipod in2 another computer wif a different playlist thus wiping out yr initial playlist dat is already in yr ipod.

we need clarifications.

but actually i think all u hav 2 to is juz 2 plug back into e itunes wif e initial playlist so yr original playlist would b back in yr ipod. updating shuldnt cause yr itunes playlist to disappear or yr mp3 files 2 b deleted, if dat is wat u mean. :wink:

n don throw yr ipod away! i need a new 1. lol

so buying second hand ipod is as good as buying blank Ipod? the existing stored MP3 will be deleted when the first time it's plugged into PC?

It was plugged into the same computer, all along since it's arrival.

It just updated itself while I was looking away, and when I looked back at the screen, everything's gone. Only to be replaced by the 20 songs I had in the library of iTunes.

No playlists involved, just merely transferring songs into the iPod, via 'Music-->Artists'. That vein, you get the picture.

when you plug an ipod into a com, it automatically goes into updating mode to mirror the itunes library. it's a preset and you can change it.

in your case, the songs are gone from your ipod. if you still have the song files on the com, just upload again la. if not, then the songs are gone for good.

You have to set it to manual updating mode... the default setting it is in, is called automatic mode, in which it will just take whatever is in your itunes library everytime you plug it in.

sorry to hijack the thread but is the sound quality of an ipod good? good as in it doesnt distort in ur ears when u turn it up substantially loud...

i have an ipod video..the sound isnt something to be impressed abt..

iriver is better den ipod in terms of sound quality..

my ipod batt suck..bought it earlier diz year..and now the battery dies after barely a day's use..and now muct go replace..

and my hold switch is busted too..put it on hold after i turn it off..but when i check it later..its on..playing a song..and the batt is in the red zone..

and i put it in a leather case..with a hard cover covering the click wheel..

hmm ipod must use good earphones and for me i set eq to acoustic the soundstage is substantially wider and overall quality is better.

but yea their qc not that good. i'm going to get my 3rd ipod once stocks come in at apple epi orchard.

1st ipod - dead/stuck pixels
2nd ipod - resets everytime it goes into hibernation mode

i think... i think apple ipod QC is one of e better ones out there. i hav my mini since early last year, still no problems at all. batt works fine, everything's gd.

creative is... urgh. not dat i don support local stuff, but almost every1 whom i noe has probs wif it, earphone jack, backlight n screen issues... i think e worst was e mini version or sth like dat, b4 e neon.

of course i noe pple dat has ipod issues 2, but dat as many as creative. n i think e sound quality is better wif creative than ipod.

back 2 e issue here, phil i suggest u c if u can import yr songs in2 yr itunes and update yr ipod again. anyway, A lvls this thurs rite??? im taking them as well!
