Iphone, Guitar, Death Magnetic

Hi guys.

Being one of the beta testers for the iphone application, PocketGuitar, we're kinda encouraged to produce youtube videos of the application in use.

So since Metallica just released an album and all that, I decided to do my pocketguitar demo by playing a little bit of "The day that never comes" on the iPhone.

Seriously, it's cool application to have. A PORTABLE GUITAR in your pocket!!! (hence the name)

Do check out my demo and please rate it thanks!

Maybe I should play my band's songs using the iphone at our next gig.. hmm.... :P

Itunes Application store. Search for pocketguitar. But note that the version on iTunes is 1.0 and the one in the demo (with distortion and whammy bar) is version 1.1 beta 4. The developer will update it on iTunes soon enough. Enjoy!

the iphone only covers 3 frets?

and i love the way u shake the iphone for bends. but can the iphone do bends?

oh man, i sure hope the post doesnt sound offensive.

I've tried this several times on my brother's iPhone. And one thing i must admit is that it's really not easy playing guitar using that application. There's another similar application but i forgot what it's called. But i remember that it has a "maple" fretboard. Lol.

The application allows you to squeeze as many frets as you want or as is humanly possible to play by doing adjustments under settings. As for the whole fretboard, it is as easy as sliding your finger on a scroll button to go to another fret. If you noticed, I played the intro plucking at the 12th fret with 4 frets on display and I played the verse plucking at the neck with 3 frets on display.

I prefer maximising the fret size for easy playing. Also, they have an option where you can slide your finger over a few strings to barre it. I used that function in the intro plucking at the 12th fret.

Sliding and hammering is available in this version.

As for bending, the accelerometer function allows you to basically whammy bar the strings by moving your iphone. It does serve somewhat like a bend. You can adjust it's sensitivity and all.

Other functions that I didn't display were, other string instruments (acoustic guitar, ukulele, classcal guitar, muted guitar, electric bass), Alternative tuning option (which also serves as capo) and the Chorus effects (you can adjust all the effects settings also).

Regarding iTouch, yea... it's available on iTunes store for the iTouch too.

But i have to remind you that the version in iTunes store is version 1.0. It will automatically update (you don't have to pay again) once the developer is ready with this version I'm testing. So be patient...

Just an update:

Mr Shinya the application developer has finalized the 1.1 version and has submitted to APple for review. It should be up as an update in about 2 weeks. Enjoy :P

Hey guys, version 1.1 is out on Itunes store! I understand that this version is an improved version of the one I beta-tested. It has the scrollable frets feature and you can opt to have the menu buttons at the top or bottom or even hidden (latest feature).

P.S. Pocketguitar is the top 2 downloaded app in Itunes store (was no. 1 last week).
