why not just take your favourite local song and play it acoustic?
if not well... Jon Chan has a solo album, half of the songs are acoustic.

FWIW, its totally cool to cover local songs. i covered the watchmen and oddfellows back in '98 (not telling which songs), and i actually covered Circling Square back in '01 in an acoustic pub show with a friend of mine. that song not easy to do leh. humback oak FTW!
