Intending to get gear this holidays!

yes TS, i'd say that since you're planning to get ur tones from the multi efx, u don't have to get a modelling amp. just one with good clean base tone is enough. i'd recommend the vox pathfinder 15r. ~$120 2nd hand.

for the korg, i'm not how it compares with other multi efx like the zoom, but i'm very attracted for it's versatility and ease of use. u can get lotsa sounds from it too. ~$270 2nd hand.

you can check both products at city music, and if u decide to buy them, u can just get them second hand.

jacks for the amp? u just need an input jack.

Hmmm,I'm not very sure about modelling amps.Haven't heard much about them from friends. So are the effects on mod amps = Effects on let's say on the KORG?In that case, you're right, there's no need for more than one effects unit.Just the KORG would do.Because I'm sure a Multi Effects unit offers more effects to play with the modded amps like the Line 6 Spider IV series.I've also read about these so called "patches" on mcuosver's thread. Are these like preset settings you can copy onto your unit,so they provide the same sound as someone else's settings?
Anyways,I'm intending to get everything first hand.So I appreciate all private messages sent to me for second hand deals, but I'm willing to spend more buck just to get things fresh off the shelf.

Woops!Just realized something. If modded amps have effects that are equivalent to those of multi effects units such as the KORG,wouldn't it be more convenient and more value-for-money to get a good modded amp and be satisifed with 1)Guitar and 2)AMP ?
The VOX Valvetronix line and the Line 6 Spider IV are two modded amps I'm talking about,in comparison to Multi Effects units like the KORG AX3000G.Any comments on this?

Amp, Fender Frontman 25R is damm good.. I miss that amp in fact.. LOL.. there is gain and reverb. I enjoy playing amp with reverb so that it doesn't sound so "dry". To me. "dry" amp can sound really bad..

TS: that depends on your use. if u plan on gigging or jamming even, i dont think u would wanna bring an amp along. get ur effects from dedicated efx units = portable tone. u might wanna see the pedalboard pictures thread. most of us use effect boxes cause we go jamming and stuffs.

yes there are some multi efx that allows u to download patches on the unit. i dont think the korg has it. i wouldnt recommend it either. its like a shortcut. i think beginners learn lesser that way. just my opinion.

mcuosver:

Ibanez SA260FM are NOT Gio grade guitars.
If i'm not wrong Gio's are entry level,
The SA series caters to the more intermediate,
the S and S Prestige are the more expensive ones

merickalston

What a coincidence, i'm also using that set up hahaha.
The SA260Fm goes for 870 LIST PRICE ***Swee Lee Sales :) (If you didnt know, you buy them from Swee Lee)

The Korg AX3000G... my parents are buying it on monday for me, they called the shop and it said 300, so, lets calculate the guitar would cost around.... 500...ishhh? + the Korg AX3000G which = 800 ish....

So another 200ish... to buy an amp, but why not save abit MORE! and you wont have to change your guitar setups much!
