Increasing your vocal range

Sound different in tone u mean?

The sound, i think, would depend on how well u control your air. I've never really used my head voice before (i think), mostly chest voice and its hard enough to get a good note with good air flow (cos i smoke ><).

But i think i need someone to tutor me... *hint* *hint*

=)

Yeah, thanks for bringing this up too! =)

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but so far all the advice I've found on the net and anywhere else only deal with helping you to reach higher notes. Does anyone know how I can sing the lower notes though?

I'm not sure about low notes, I'm trying to figure it out also :/ I'm just practicing the scales down and using more air support, for now...

Anyone else has suggestions?

hmm, im not a singer but i do like to sing sometimes and im not tonedeaf at least. haha. Can someone explain why in the morning i can hit REALLY beautiful low notes but after like i shower and all i slowly lose the ability to go low and sound nice?

I think to go low, you have to visualize your voice going downwards... That's how I do it... And I think I can do pretty nice lows.

When your vocal cords are relaxed, they're thicker because it's a complete slack. It's that thickness that causes a deeper voice; thinner vocal cords produce a more high-pitch sound..

In the morning, the muscles in the vocal cords are more relaxed / rubbery / thicker which is why it's deeper and easier to sing all those lurvely notes of yours. Until you start talking have a shower, or brush your teeth (warms / stretches cords), which then makes your voice less deep. :}

Kk for low notes, i'm actually good at this.

For low notes, what you need to keep in mind is to sound sharp. The fundamentals that i do (that my singer-uncle told me) is to have good air flow and be able to support that note properly.

Fundamentally, have a good breath before the note or phrase. Bloat out your tummy when u breathe; this pulls down ur diaphragm and allows more air into your lungs.

Practice this when you're doing a certain phrase of low notes.

Drink warm honey or that Mother and Son Cough syrup.

Hope it helps you. =)

Thanks for the tip! I've got another problem. Whenever I sing in my falsetto, I have the tendency to go out of tune. I've recorded myself singing to pay more attention to this problem before and I suspect the problem is with me not being able to hold the falsetto note. Any tips?

There are instances where some people cannot sing falsetto because of a limited range, but then again I'm not one to believe that theory cos the range can still be trained..

Take a deeper air support when you hit the note and concentrate on hitting the note on key and try hold it a bit :/ might work? Relax your mouth and don't tense it up as well, just relax your face ah...

and use a tuner. I've been using it and it helps. >< Another lesson from someone i know.

Once u hit the note, remember how u get it with your voicebox. Then hold the note and do that.

Once u do, do a scale of that note while checking that you're in tune.

=)

Hmm. For some reason, I lose the ability to tell whether I'm singing in tune or not when it's in falsetto. I've never had this problem with my normal voice. Any reasons?

I don't know but some possible reasons is cos the notes aren't powerful so cannot hear / sense the pitching right.. or that it's too squeeze up between the throat, causing your voice to tense up and release on a stagger / off pitching..

Singing Practice

To have a high vocal range is to sing loud.Practice saying "hee" "haa" "huu" till can be heard till afar.It can be at any note..even low note. The further you reached amazingly the higher your vocal range will be.You will sing without stressing your vocal chord. Its the air pressure thingy but amazingly it works. The other thing is the diaphram.Your breathing.Tis I will continue later..good luck.hope to see more talented singers!

hi, for falsetto singing, there are a number of reasons you go off pitch. One, yes, you are unable to hold the falsetto note, probably because you do not provide proper breath support. Two, because you are unfamiliar with that range of yr voice (falsetto or head voice range) and so you do not know how to pitch those notes. Because the falsetto range is utilizing a relatively weaker aspect of yr vocal cords, it actually takes some effort and also more relaxation to produce a good falsetto tone.

Recording yourself will definitely help, and listen to which notes you tend to go off tune. Is there a specific range of notes? if so, practise that range diligently with basic scales, and you should improve.

i`ve been singing for quite some time already but i`ve never been to classes though.. but through experience i feel that the technique to increasing your vocal range is kinda hard to me .

i singg songs from bon jovi and ah mei`s song and trust me.. i coulnt even sing MLTR songs before lol. the technique i used was to sing the same song preferably a rock song .. sing it over and over until i break my voice =) sounds scary i know but i went hoarse and couldnt sing for 2 weeks .. 3 times =) everytime my voice breaks and recovers i realised i could reach a higher note ^^ thats for me though and drink lots and lots of water..

and btw i smoke too so quitting or not aint really matter haha

Hmm.. i guess it only applies to personally. It really is rather dangerous for you to do that, and you're lucky you don't get other vocal problems like vocal cord nodules, which can be extremely painful and difficult to recover from. Also, your vocal range may improve after you recover, but that's maybe because you now dare to sing those notes that you did not dare to before. And then cause greater damage to your voice, possibly even reducing the overall range that you may have had earlier.

Just some kind advice for you: Try not to keep doing what you do, and do seek professional vocal coaching if you really want to improve your singing. ;-p
