If you don't know how to sing, you may be damaging your voice. You also won't sound all that good. So I would recommend doing some vocal training first

If you want, make a recording of yourself and get some feedback!

Those aren't falsettos, they're called the whistle register, and hers is not as scary as most of the WR singers out there.. Mariah Carey's high notes are actually quite mild and soft..

I don't know what the deal is about the whole "high note is everything" thing with vocals these days. WRs can be beautiful but not to that degree IMO. It gets painful for the singer and listener, and sometimes they compromise on the tone sooo much that it just strips the mood off the melody and literally break glass.. for the wrong reasons...

i kinda think he needs to define bad voice. as in is it purely the voice sounds bad or rather the voice which cannot make the tunes n thus makes it sound bad? bad voice but can make out tunes decently is well, not a problem tt can be cured. u cant change ur real voice. personally, i think ppl now want good voice. tune all improve ltr. but no offence made.

Hee hee... sorry lah but I admit it that I haven't heard a lot of them.

Just the few gigs I went to this year, and the Asian Beat Finals. Lots of those growling and rapcore bands. Technically they are good but vocally, very few were inspiring.

Maybe I was just in one of my suaning moods...

To me its hard to find a terrible voice. Most people sound bad
because they are either
- singing out of tune
- singing out of key
- singing out of rhythm
- or singing word by word
Just move with the groove and remember to practice on tune/rhythm and it will fine.

Well, sometimes people are just tone deaf IMO and just can't sing cos they need training. I think singing lessons are a sure deal.

But if you think you really want to sing, my advice would be record yourself singing and listen. if you think you like what you hear, let strangers here and get the comments.
