Ibanez with Edge trems

Hi

Is it necessary to do intonation for Ibanez guitars with Lo Pro Edge trems? From the way it was intonated in http://www.ibanezrules.com/tech/setup/intonation.htm , it seems dat factory specs has got some flaws.

What's ur opinion ? Shredcow or Subversion any comments ?

I just bought an Ibanez Prestige 3120TW off Khalid of Rusty Blade and the trems I believed are Lo-Pro Edge.

Posting photos soon.

eh, yea dude, just check to see if notes at the 12th fret correspond to the harmonics, then just adjust accordingly. its not really a "necessary" or "not necessary" sort of thing ya.

bridge intonation are already done at the factory before the guitars are shipped out. this holds true for the default gauge used (eg: Ibanez intonated for .009s).

you need to revise this intonation setting if you switch string gauge. some people who don't still check the default intonation anyway because this is a fine adjustment procedure, it's not spot-on when done at the factory.

intonation anomalies will manifest if you play chords beyond the 12th fret, it'll sound out of tune despite the guitar being already tuned.

Yup...it does sound a bit off after the 12th frets.
I dunno.. the way it was describe in dat ibanezrules website, it just implied to me that there's something seriously wrong with the factory specs. U know the part where it says u gotta unscrew the intonation screw on the G string and move it one hole backwards.

I'm using 9-42 and I've just changed the strings...Maybe i'll wait till the strings are worn out before sending it to Malcolm.

Thanx for the feedback

Well, I'm with sub on this - from the factory out, adjustments are still needed but its a fine adjustment procedure.

Thing is, if you can hear it, GO FOR IT.

There are people who can't hear it, and wouldn't bother about it... which they should since, the people listening to them play can hear it.

Strobe it I say, STROBE IT!!!

there's nothing seriously wrong, just that when it comes to bridge intonation (factory settings), it's a hit/ miss especially with locking floaters.
