Ibanez RG550EX VS Fender Stratocaster.

Actually, dhalif, i'm using an Ibanez RG Series 550....
I was given the option i believe between rosewood and maple, but i prefer maple.
I did not add in though that the biggest issue i had were the pickups, not too much the number of frets. And of cos, the floyd rose issue since i'm a whammy freak. RG550 composes of 2 humbuckers and 1 single coil originally, but i disliked the original ibanez pickups and upgraded all of them to 3 humbuckers, 1 of them being a double stacked. I prefer humbuckers as they give a stronger sound, especially good for shredding. The single coil sounds just won't sustain and is too thin for me but i felt they had a clearer sound when it goes to plucking.
The fret neck doesn't affect me, i can switch guitars easily and still play with ease, since i also jam on my acoustic guitar. Unless i switch to classical guitars, i would have problems. ibanez are modifiable, which is what i like about them. Comparing the whole range of Fender models to one model of ibanez is not a fair comparison actually. An advice to the person buying, do test the guitars out first to see if you like the sound, and why is there a need to just constrain on Fender or ibanez, there are also other brands out there....
Personally, my dream guitar is the Parker FCV Butterfly....

i just want to point out again... (not flaming man) just stating..
i feel. that ibanez are more harder to modify.. because they dont have standard parts..
looking into fender now.. its a standard thing.. u can get a strat neck off warmoth or whatever easily..
well i dont know about you.. just what i feel... my 2 cents 3 cents 4 cents 5 cents.. hahah how many cents also i dunno...

SINGLE COILS RULE!!!!!!

ps : rg 550 ex had a rosewood model eh?/ i din know that... the one i know which provides a rosewood model is another model of the 550 not the ex.. *shrugs*

cool.. i couldnt remember which one is which already.. just too fucken many RG numbers lol 470 550 570 450 560.. nabeh tetek..

haha seems like de strat is still de main fav around here. well. guess its damn versatile but de look of de strat is kinda like overused. esp since fender isnt de only ones making de strat. haha. i almost bought a fender instead of my prs. de feel is fantastic but there is alot of hum when using single coils which is a problem. but singles sure beats hums when it comes to clarity. dats y i haf coil tap on my guitar hehe. maybe my next guitar ill get a strat. de cleans still amaze me.

coil taps try to sound single coilish?... but usually it cant cut it... i have a coil tap and phase out on my prs bridge humbucker. it does have some form of quack... but.. NOTHING near a single coil... even a cheapo louya one will sound better clean.
a humbucker is a humbucker... a single coil is a single coil........
60s cycle hum can be fixed... or just buy noiseless single coils... which sound great nowadays... the cleans of a single coil is just beautiful...

the distorted tone of a single coil will require more effort frm the player's fingers... a difference which can be heard.
humbuckers... yes you get a good metal chug and everything... and a very fat tone when you solo... but cleans get muddy sum times... basically just get BOTH.
everyone needs a strat.
everybody needs a dual humbucker guitar.
everyobdy should also get a tom anderson . h/s/s. (drool)

Penta-tonic,

You should give HSS-style guitars a try.

A good compromise in humbucker and sc tones.

i've learned to like all my guitars, not just favouring one. the fenders i own are cool, they give me very good single coil tones but i need my Ibanez/ PRS/ BC Rich to deliver some other tones the Fender cannot.

i love fender & PRS for their guitar philosophy. these, among others, are intellectual brand names. 8)

Now listening to: Darkthrone- Sardonic Wrath

i like the strat sound especially when using neck pups. it's sounds so "single-coil" which i fancy so much. i only can get to try it out when i can afford them. hopefully soon. i have 2 dual humbuckers guitars at home and craving to experience sumthing "new". squier prolly a good start. maybe. hmmm.

I've got an RG1550 ltd ed, white + gold knobs n tremelo..

I personally prefer the super-strat design of Ibanez. Espically with the HSH config.

I would a "must have" guitar though, is the versatile Les Paul...
