Ibanez Jem 505!

In an attempt to get this thread back on topic I shall ask if anyone knows when all the new Ibanez stuff (JEM 505, Edge-equipped JEMs and JS's, RGD's) is coming to S'pore?

I'm sure you can ask BGW guitars on this. They should be able to get an Ibanez guitar that is currently in production.

I don't really see the point of Ibanez having the USA customs or even the LACS in my opinion..

Since Ibanez is an excellent Japanese guitar company surely MIJ pieces are good enough yes?

I don’t like any of Ibanez current production models.

I want a mahogany body, flame maple top, cream binding, reverse headstock, fix bridge, piezo and vine inlay in trans violet colour.
That’s why we need a custom shop or at least an option shop, PRS is setting up one.

back to the topic, after upgrading pickups in 505, it will cost you as much as 7V but you wont have vine inlays :) At least it should come with Breed or Evo like 7DBK.

probably the different origin of wood and different electronics/pickups. True that they are stringent with their QC in both countries but I do think that this case is similar to Fender (MIA & M/CIJ).

btw, back on topic. I just realised that the JEM505 is like a modified version of the RG550. Countless people have made attempts to transform their RG550s into JEMs (adding a monkey grip, lion claw etc). I guess that is where Ibanez/Steve Vai got the idea from since there was a demand for such a thing.

A lot of people asked for made in Japan affordable JEM which positions between 555 and 7V and this is the outcome. It would have been a lot better with Breed and pyramids inlay. I will buy one if they did that.

Man, that is some excellent specs. Trans-purple will go really well with the flame maple .

I agree, the price is not justified for mediocre Ibanez stock pickups.

If i had cash to burn for a JEM (one of my dream guitars) i'll rather source out a JEM777SK online or something.

Kills me just to imagine how many RG550s have been inevidently ruined in attempts to convert it to JEM specs... *shudders*

EDIT: Realized i was rambling out of topic. Much apologies.

heh heh, that sounds something like a cross between the JEM7DBK and JEM7PBK. IMO if that treatment was done on the JEM505, it wouldn't be a "in between" model anymore. It would be a brand new JEM all by itself.

Minor differences between the 2. The JEM505 is only lacking of cool inlays and a nice set of Dimarzios. However, The list price would have a $1000 USD hike despite those minor alterations. Since they have tiny dot inlays, it is possible to replace them with pyramids haha!

Haha small thing man.

However, It is POSSIBLE to convert the white JEM505 into a JEM777SK.

Use some thinner to wear the lacquer down, overspray with some fluorescent pink finish, stick disappearing pyramid stickers on the neck, swap out the PUs + knobs + pickguard and presto, you have what you've always dreamed of :D

Too much hassle haha. Also wouldn't that be akin to those people who convert their RG550 to JEMs?

IMO the production models should be appreciated more.

Il rather dish out some serious dough for a JEM777SK and own a piece of Ibanez guitar history.

Unfortunately i'm still a poor student..and still a beginner guitarist..

So i think il keep dreaming for now
