i wonder why singapore media (namely TV) doesn't showcase that much of the singaporean music scene? i mean, yes, there is s-pop hurray and whatever other shows from time to time. but i mean.. japan has utaban and music fighter, america has letterman, jayleno and all those other late night shows and stuff.
i'm not 100% sure, but singapore doesn't have any tv-spots for our bands right? what a pity. we really should have more of that.
and also, how many local artists/local bands ever have their music played on the radio anyways?

bleh.

well my uncle got to play on tv before back in the backs.tv twelve i think the malay channel.if you refering ourselves to the states than that is already too ambitious.maybe its good to be ambitious but in this case looking at the no. of channels sg has and the limited time slot on air certainly no time for local music.i just wish they could just thrash those series shows to give way to local music.or maybe sg make their own kinda of MTV.but that wont happen.

I remember there was a show called 'Tonight with Gurmit' many many years back.
If I'm not wrong they showcased a couple of local bands, with my uncle's band being one of them.

got alot of showcasing of pop talents, eg project super star, campus super star and so many spinoffs of the superstar franchise. but mainstream media just doesn't cater to the rock minority. the pop majority is satisfied though.

we have dumb talkshows that END. I mean, what the heck..talkshows should have SEASONS..it's never ending. look at Letterman,it's been around since I was 10!

yet even Suria Segar has "breaks" in the middle. They treat it like a TV drama series.

Upfront with Najip
Tonight with Gurmit

they all ended..don't know why. they should go on and on. Singapore wants to showcase lots more of those imported shows. they should really have more english channels..or just have more talk shows on Central. because that channel sometimes have redundant shows.

never been a fan of local talkshows, but i liked the old chn 5 local series SHIVER. that was classic man. wonder will it have rerun?

vr man is more like triple 9... where u actually watch to laugh at the stupidity of the plot (or lack of). but shiver is really good!

Triple 9 was cool until more characters came in..Robin Leong and that Desiree Siahaan or something..forgot ar..

The tv companies also want profits.. If they show rock shows that isnt the most popular kind of music here, they will lose some viewers and advertising revenue. I think that is one of the reasons why they rather focus on more popular and "in" music.
