hey guys i just got my lp custom today. too bad i dint get the colour i wanted but its still nice anyway. im planning to upgrade the pickups soon but i dunno wat to get since EMGs 81/85 wont look nice on it. i need something dats very very very versatile(blues, rock, metal etc etc) and comes wif gold covers =D

versatility is in the hands of the player. and prob the amp. say i give u bareknuckles pickups and a laney hardcore max amp, at best you would sound convincingly like a hive of bees.

for a versatile pickup just get something which is in the moderate drive range which doesnt clip too early yet, on drive is hot enough.

What's lacking in the ones you have already in there?

Yeap, whats wrong with what you have? You just got the guitar, for all you know, your golden pups really sound they way they look.

You custom looks quite sweet man. Btw what amp are you using? Emg's for metal but dont expect a great clean sound. They sound sterile and lifeless to me when clean. Another thing is dont let colour get in the way of you getting what you need. Doesnt make sense imho. You could play with the pickup height too

get those kent armstrong ones at gutar connection at penin, going for $70 each. they sound freaking good and are pretty versatile.

those are NOT kent armstrong

they are SKY pickups... kent armstrong designed... made in korea

i have a gibsonLP too. i was initially thinking of changin my pups to EMGs 81/60s. but it wouldnt sound good clean or just overdriven.
im changing mine to Seymores Jazz and Jb.

the stock pickups sounds great! but i wanna change at the end of yr sale since it will be damn cheap =D dats all...saving for effects now hehe...

if you are waiting for 'that' year-end sale, your choices of pickups would be down to a certain brand name only, yes?

ya...probably seymours but they haf so many models too choose frm and all of them haf their own unique sound. btw haf any1 tried dimarzios b4? ive nvr tried a guitar wif them before...

That makes no sense to me at all. And yet we see it so often.
