Ok when you enter a studio, you see a mixer. its not that amazing. but what makes me wonder is how does the engineer control the multi track recording with the mixer? Like what mixer to buy?

I really want to set up a home recording studio. It'd help if someone could tell me how to set up that sorta thing. And do tell me the price.

I just need to know about what soundcard to buy and mixers and any other things which i may need (exclude the mics).

Oh and do tell me the price!

Thank you fellow softies!

A little caveat, the mixer is not the most important thing to have in a home project studio. You will have a virtual mixer right in your DAW, having a hardware version when you don't need one will only result in studio clutter.

So unless you have ample space, need to do multi mic recordings(drums) or yearn for a tactile experience I'd suggest focus to be on the computer system and audio interface.

So what budget are we looking at ?

I have a choice between Line 6, Guitar Rig and Zoom.
Which of these interface are worth the buy?

I would recommend instead that you consider the ProTools LE software instead with a MBOX Mini interface. ProTools is the industry standard and something that the big boys use... The LE Version is almost as good as ProTools HD itself.

Then when you want to look at a mixer with "real physical faders", you could consider any number of mix control surfaces that are available in the market, like the MAudio Project I/O or the Mackie MCU Pro, etc.
