Hi all,
Just thought I'd share a little post on how to post pictures (not links to galleries) via Photobucket and Flickr, the two most common photo hosting sites we use. I feel like we can be more responsible sellers if we post pictures so that the buyer who reads the ad can see them straight away. Admittedly, it's a lot more work, but I think our reputation and integrity are important, don't you think?
Step 1: Click on the "Insert image" button located on the forum menu above. You'll notice you need a URL which ends with a picture format extension (.jpg / .jpeg / .png / .gif).
Step 2:
Photobucket
With photobucket, it's pretty easy. Access the picture you wish to post, click on the link from Direct (please see picture above). This generates a URL which can be pasted directly into the "insert image" function. For the truly HTML-savvy, you can do this yourself by using the image HTML brackets:
Flickr
Unfortunately, Flickr is not so straightforward.
Choose the picture you wish to share, click on sharing options, and you should see a sub-menu called HTML. Ensure the HTML button is selected (or it will just generate a link to an embedded gallery). Clicking on the greyed out link should copy it to the clipboard.
Next, open up notepad and paste the HTML link. You should see a portion of the HTML link that says "img src" (which, you should guess by now, is short-hand for image source). Copy that URL that ends with .jpg/.jpeg. This is the URL you can paste into the "insert image" function.
Presto! You've posted a picture into a forum post. Hope this helps!
