How to tell difference between fretboard wood types?

As above. How to tell by looking?

maple is light-brownish, rosewood is darker brown and ebony is black, i suppose? unless you're talking about a different thing o.0

Maple is the lightest
Rosewood is brownish
Ebony almost black.

Mainly maple and rosewood on strats while ebony mostly on les pauls.
