Hi,
Refinishing your guitar can be quite a handful if you don't have a clue. First you must remove your current finish then prime it for the new coat then you have to seal it in with lacquer and all. Yes you can refinish your guitar with sparycans. You might want to google around first then pickup a second hand body to play with first. :)

asked Faizal Rock ....he just stripped his strat body..
once you cleaned up the body.
the rest of the steps are pretty easy.

the rest of the steps sound easy but doing it requires a bucket load of sanding and buffing. 1 refinish could take you a few months if you want it to be done nicely. most of the time is wasted on drying the paint.

I'm currently on the last few steps of refinishing. Has been 2 months and half now. I don't care about waiting time and so, because I can wait anyway, my studies are more important. The stripping is the most boring part, if you do it like what I did, sanding. At that time I didn't know there was a paint stripper sold in SG (Silly me). There are lots and lots of sanding required (for me) and you can see more sanding marks after spraying, so more sanding. And then just a few coats without sanding and it will be near perfect. And then you have to wait a day to sand it etc. Mine takes longer because I put a maple veneer on it. Hope it goes well for me, and good luck to you!!

Question tho. Does anyone knows how to let their lacquer dries rock hard? Mine doesnt dry that hard after even half a year...

I have a question. How do you gloss the finish after final coat and sanding? I keep getting orange peels and after sanding to 1500 it become satin and not glossy anymore.

keit,
you are using aerosol can spray or industrial ( compressor + spray gun)?
aerosol is hard to product a quailty finishing..
if you are using. try not to be to close in distance during spraying. dip a bit of thinner to clean the nostril
