how to line up my pedals.. professional way. i just wanna look at you, guitarists views.. i have dunlop wah, digitech compressor/sustainer,Boss noise suppresor, boss digital delay,Boss super octave,Digitech metal master distortion, ibanez tube screamer,Kerry king's 10 band eq.. erm.. guitar is ibanez rg series 370dx..with duncan pickup,sh4 in the bridge and sh1-59 in the neck...

where do i place my Wah pedal? after which or before which pedals??

Might not wk for you but for me (from the send of my Ns2):

Tuner - Wah - Comp - Phase - Chorus - Eq - Return on Ns2 - Delay - Amp.

Don't use distortion/overdrive pedals so can't help ya there........

place the wah after or directly before the dist/od pedal, try to see which position is better for ur ears..this of course is a general guideline...

haha i've asked before but no one replied so i'll ask again. sorry to interrupt but how about the 'effects send' 'effects return' thing?

Copied this from another thread. 8)

hi!

This is lifted from somewhere else..

Enjoy!

The order of effects in your pedal chain is a big factor in combined effects guitar sound. Does the overdrive go before the chorus? Does the delay go before the flanger? The actual answer is…you can do whatever you like. Experimentation is the key. BUT, we can offer you a good place to start from. If you use this as a general rule, you won't go far wrong.

1st Envelope Filter and Tone Shaping Effects.
These include Auto Wahs and Wah pedals. These effects rely on the dynamics of your guitar tone and should be the first thing you signal sees.

2nd Compression Compression can work well with a variety of different pedals, so best to have it close to the front.

3rd Overdrives, Distortions and Fuzz's
And in that order. If you go from the least amount of drive to the greatest amount of drive you can get some pretty cool combinations. A low gain pedal can be a great solo boost into a higher gain pedal, but the other way around can often spell disaster.

4th Modulation Effects
These include chorus, flanger, phasers and tremolos. The specific order of the modulation effects is probably the least important as you rarely use more than one at a time and if you do is more a sound effect than a toneful combination.

5th Delay effects
A good rule of thumb here if you use multiple delay effects is to put your short delay before your long delay. Adding a nice drawn out delay on top of a slap back effect can sound quite cool.

6th and finally Reverb
Technically speaking, reverb is actually a delay effect. Very short delays combined to give the effect of being in an enclosed space. Think about what happens when you shout in a hall. That's the delayed sound of your voice bouncing of the walls. Leaving this effect till last works well with many different combinations including clean and dirty sounds.

Again find the sounds and combinations that work for you.

Best to put the WAH at the start of ur chain! as in

Guitar > Wah > to the rest!

If ur gonna put it in the middle or anywhere else, its not mud up ur tone like hell .... some like it, some don, try it out .... you'll understand!

Hv fun!

hm

thanks man.. but i'm still not sure.. like all my pedals.. if u had al those. how would u line up? for erm.. like Heavy sound and clear solo.. and also wah not sounding

Hmm.

I would put the signal chain like this:

Guitar > tuner > NS2 send >

dunlop wah > ibanez tube screamer > Digitech metal master distortion > Boss super octave > Kerry king's 10 band eq > digitech compressor/sustainer >

NS2 receive > boss digital delay > amp

the tuner comes first (personal preference) before going into the noise suppressor efx loop. your wah comes first because you might want ur OD/booster to hear the wah efx, and not the wah to process that overdriven signal.

the super octave comes after the OD (not the other way around) because you would want the octave to process the overdriven signal and add the bass frequencies, not the OD to overload with the bass frequencies.

I would want ot put the EQ after those stuff because you might have lost some tone along the way and this EQ could help you restore it. The compressor comes after that because in this case, your clean tone would have been enhanced by the EQ, and it helps to give you more sustain.

All that goes back into the NS 2 receive jack and out into the delay, which processes all those fancy efx you had in the efx loop.

It's kinda like why you gotta pull ur pants down before you do ur business, and what ever method you do it is fine, as long as you don't end up soiling your pants (in this metaphor, meaning you don't end up with shitty sound).

Just my 2 cents 8)

Wah will react differantly when placed before or after dirt/fuzz ...you try and see what you like ...there is no
special/professional place for the wah... :D
i have seen some people havin them right at the end of the pedal chain ...and make good music
I stick to the tradition of being first ...
