how to create the relic look??

for satin look, from course to medium, then down the grit to till u feel u are comfortable with.

generally start with course then work your way down, its good practice and it helps break up as well.

For satin finishes don't bother about sand paper and its different grades. Use bronze wool (fine). Available at homefix. The 3m sanding sponges works well too. Get the grades that are yellow coloured. Then sand. This is what most people do to obtain a satin finish for their neck if glossy lacquer irks them. Just extend the same concept to the whole body. Been there and done that personlly as well.

thanks guys for the suggestion...i m starting to sand my guitar everyday after work...hahaha......anyway....bro Chan Min....I remembered you did some upgrading on your MIA strat pickguard....may i know what is it??how much does it cost to do it??

If you have a yard behind your house, dig a hole and bury the gutiar body inside and plant something above the soil.
Let it shine and and dry lol

dont sand it. since its poly coated. why not strip it to a natural finish and age the wood in the sun?

He just wants to have the ageing look and not the tone of the ageing wood. Hence through wind, rain and sunshine the finish will wear off.
