How to clean a matte finish guitar?

I got a Epiphone Tom Delonge signature guitar. The finish is matte so I don't use those guitar polish coz i scared that one spot is shiny and some it not. Normally I just wipe it with cloth. Is there any other way to clean and maintain it?

I don't own a matte finish guitar, but as far as I'm aware, its similar to cleaning the matte surface of an LCD screen. So, using a tinge of cleaning alcohol might work, and using a bit of water will help to get those irritating fingerprints off the finish.

so using a damp cloth is ok right?

Never never use water to wipe ur guitar! It will somehow damage ur wood..u can use water to wipe. But the wood will be soak n sumhow damage it. Unless u leave it to dry under the hot sun.

If you're just cleaning the dust off the surface, a dry cloth is better. But to get rid of those oily fingerprints, a very mild damp cloth will do the trick. Remember to dry off the guitar with a dry cloth again, or as 666999 said, it will damage your guitar.

In case you're afraid of water seeping into your guitar, it's alright to use abit of water as the guitar finish is laminated.

I wouldn't do that if I were you. Depending on the finish compound and the thickness, you'd end up with a bald spot if you used some cleaning alcohols on thin finishes. Satin finishes I think tend to be a satin nitro lacquer. Nitro does not work with alcohol.

I'm thinking one of those lens cleaning microfibre cloths would be better in this case. DRY.
