How To: Check fret/fingerboard life

Like what was being mentioned on the title, how do you check it? My guitar has a rosewood fretboard. So, how to check how much fret life is it left?

How about this? This is my rosewood fretboard.

What do you think? By the way, can tell me more about that fret wire thing? I don't know what's that, really. If you could provide any picture(s) of a "flattened fret wire like its being filed", it'd be best. Thanks alot.

There's still a lot of life for your fretwire Quietus.....if you are not sure how a fretwire looks like look at the pic below..

And here are some pics of worn out fretwire.....

I hope this helps and clear your doubts...

so if my fret life is dying, can i change the fret wire and that will solve the problem?

It should solve the problem..plus a professional luthier will prolly do a full set-up after refretting them...so hopefully all the "buzz" will not be present.

@Zeebra :: No problem dude...glad it helps you to understand and be aware of it.:)

gosh i had a guitar 8 years old .. but i never come across my fret like that , although i play it almost every day , it flattened down but not as bad as the one on the picture where there is a hole on the fret ? mine juz flattened down evenly and it feels more amazing imo hahaha ... too bad my neck broken , will miss the neck very much ...

I only buy 2nd hand guitars and thank god I can do my own fretwork - its a bummer when the frets get the pits etc ....

Bear in mind U could redress ur frets instead of changing if the wear isnt too severe - cheaper alternative as well

have u tried davis? sweelee? tymc?
any difference for gibson & fender fret?
what tools are needed? file, mallet, pliers..??
