Hi toshiro

What is your budget? Are you recording full bands with drums or making tracks with sampled instruments in computer? What do you already have?

i dun really have a budget.. jsut get what i really need.. dun have to be really high end products.. im only recording for covers.. self covers.. like guitars... vocals.. keys.. yea.. I have a keyboard.. guitar.. and a laptop itself... yea.. tht all for now.. quite new to it. =D

what specs is your laptop? electric guitar or acoustic?

so all you need is a mic to record vocals, acoustic guitar .
keyboard via 1/4" cable or via midi (you'll need a midi USB cable or unless your keyboard has midi output)

do you have any DAW (digital audio workstation) software?

my specs for my laptop is
win 7
4gb ram
500gb data storage.

erm,, im goin acoustic so no electric guitar..
my keyboard's the yamaha PSR e313

DAW?
erm.. i guess.. none.. audacity? haha.. does that count.. dun think so urh..
where do get those items i need?

audacity is a DAW. anything that records and mix and exports stereo mixdown is a daw.

since you didn't mention a specific budget , my recommendation for you is a Zoom H4n .

so later when you got extra budget to buy a large diaphragm mic for recording vocals you can "upgrade" . or when you use electric guitar you can DI as well.

not sure if H4n comes with its own Cubase LE DAW, should have.
