Hi there! Any lefties playing left handed set-up? I would like to know how u guys play, u play mirrored set-up so it means u also play everything opposite? other than switching ur leading hand, what other things?

hey dude, i've got a couple of open handed students. they generally play a right hand set up. meaning hi hat on left, they find it more comfortable. the open handed way of playing does make more sense if u think about it. the other thing thats good is also the convience, u dun have to keep switching the kit around when your doing gigs with multiple bands.

Jimmy Lee, one of the veteran of local sessionist and drumming scene (ah mei's drummer) is left handed. But he can do everything. And infact playing the drums the normal right handed way will already train your right hand since you have to be on the rides or hihat most of the time.

but you will not need to specially have isolated training just for your left hand since it's already strong. best of both worlds!

we right hand ppl have to train so hard for our left hand most of the time and it's usually done on boring drumpad, while you have the advantage to train yr weaker hand whenever you're on the drumset playing the right-handed way

Thx guys! but what i'm trying to find out is whether lefties with left handed set ups, whether the practice the opposite way? Like all parradiddles... or the difference between lefties and righties is their leading hand??

IMO i think de difference between lefties n righties is just thier leading hand. For example if ur a leftie n u play de open handed way (left hand leading), its just like de normal right handers playing de crossed way (right hand leading).

If ur a left hander, n u wish to play de crossed way, Its also de same theory as a right hander playin de open way.

The amount of practise is still de same overall IMHO. rudiments also work de same, for example some may play LRLLRLRR but some may play RLRRLRLL, but all these rudiments is still a must to practise in any combination no matter ur a leftie or rightie.

IMHO = In my honest opinion

IMO = In my opinion

P.S. = Post script

btw = By the way

Hope I got them right hehe. That's always what I assume they mean. Ah ya, practice both ways. rlrr lrll or lrll rlrr.
