yah the sound sucks but it's more difficult for the author to make mistakes on the tab. sometimes some traditional tabs are horrifically off but with guitarpro it's a lot harder to screw the whole song up.

Crozzfire, tried guitar pro 5? It has something called realistic sound engine. Honestly, it doesnt sound too realistic, but it still sounds pretty decent ... I love guitar pro, i think i'd never ever be able to learn so many songs without it ...

music theory knowledge may help too.

pracitsing the guitar all the time also trains perfect pitch.

i always thought that perfect pitch was something you were born with. doesnt practicing just improve your relative pitch?

not really, if you train a child from very young, they could have perfect pitch

but 4 most of us teenagers, its more practical to have relative pitch

i actualli feel that by listeninng is easier to learn the song technically and easier to get into the mood, bcuz u r like doing the tab work ur self and analysing the song... i tired learning by reading tabs on guitar pro, i wasted mi a long time, by tmr i forget wad is the first note. but when i just start playng electric , my teacher wan mi to learn europa-santana by ear, until i can still remember the song.
however its still a tedious job listening. some songs have very piano-ish chord...
also im referig to relatively easy pieces. learning those crazy solos like vai's or (u name it)... i find it impossible to learn totally by ear. think is combination of ear and tabs.
