[ HOME PARTIES AND SONIC VOGUE PRESENT “RACING FEVER” FT. ELECTROFUNK (AUS) & DJ PATSAN (AUS) ]
[ 26.09.09 ]

This week of fast cars and free-flowing champagne won’t be complete without some superbly electrifying electro house action!

While sexy Formula One engines roar into town this week, Newcastle’s Electrofunk brings his blend of tight, driving techno-electro to the party tonight. With filtered vocals that swirl over thumping kicks and chunks of unprocessed guitar that slice through synthetic sounds, crowds can expect to be brought to the next breakdown in unique Electrofunk style.

Starting off the night is DJ Patsan also hailing from Newcastle, Australia, whose funky breaks and electro house sets have taken him to Europe playing alongside Dj’s like Tony Humphries, Dimitri from Paris and MOS’s Alan Thompson.

With the two Sonic Vogue DJ’s and HOME residents coupled to bring the house down on RACING FEVER, there’s simply no better reason to go HOME tonight!

Electrofunk injects the later hours with a tight and driving, technotic blend of the analog and digital for dancefloors big and small. Filtered vocals swirl like paint while thumping kicks maintain a core of energy and drama that holds the floor. Unprocessed chunks of guitar slice through the synthetic sounds to bring the crowd along to the next breakdown. That's the beauty of an electrofunk show: it's much more than another recycled DJ set, and it's never the same.

Electrofunk is producer Jamie Shoemarks's top project, and represents the past six years of devotion to music production in his hometown of Newcastle, Australia. While Jamie's dabbled in house and breaks, electrofunk is at the centre of a bumping local techno scene and between production stints, Jamie and friends would team up to throw the Hunter Valley's biggest parties. Electrofunk has played alongside local heroes of the techno and breaks scene such as Nu Breed, Sonic Animation, Pound System, Infusion, Bexta, Mark Dynamix, Kid Kenobi, Nik Fish, Pee Wee and John Ferris, Amber Savage and international act Organ Donors.

It was at these parties that the Electrofunk sound was worked and re-worked to become the crunchy, slamming show that Jamie took on tour across Europe. According to Jamie, Big 1 at Barcelona was his favorite night, and the incredible audience response only affirmed his belief that he's on the right track. "I try and create the entire show from scratch each time I perform," says Jamie. "It gives me as much freedom as I need to respond to the dancefloor. Everything's re-created live using RS7000 to RS7000, unique dj cutting and vocals.

Currently signed to Sonic Vogue Records, Electrofunk is in the process of recording his upcoming album to be released this October 2009.

Strong scenes revolve around motivated people. Not only is George Patsan a world-class DJ, he is one of the few DJ’s that have put their heart and soul into producing Dance/Electronic music.

DJ Patsan built his reputation the classic way. Since the age of 18, he’s played gig after gig at at local dance clubs, mixing whatever tunes were necessary to move the local crowds. Meanwhile, Patsan’s DJ skills & production have strengthened through his residencies at every major local club. His sets are inspiring as his gift is to look at his dancefloor and feel his way into the mix incorporating everything from Electro, Breaks and Tribal Housel to upfront party rockers.

Patsan’s skills have taken him overseas to Italy & the UK in 2006 playing with house legends like Pastaboys, Deepswing, Raul Rincon, Tony Hunphries, while back home he’s played alongside DJ’s Ian Pooley, Dimitri from Paris & Ministry of Sound’s Alan Thompson & John Course. Patsan is now taking things one step further and working his way into creating his own Dance/Electronic House music with releases like “U Give Me Love” and “Get Up Dance” released on dance labels Sonic Vogue Records (UK) and Red Night Records (US).

It’s a time-honored path to greatness, followed by everyone from Fatboy Slim to Adam Freeland or John Digweed: sometimes you have to create a scene to give yourself a chance to play what you love. Working from the ground up guarantees you a following, and as the packed floors testify, George is doing everything right.
